Virat Kohli says there is a lot of cricket to be played in the tournament but deep down even he knows that their T20 World Cup campaign is all but done. Like the 2019 ODI World Cup and World Test Championship final, New Zealand once again proved to be Team India’s nemesis and have all but ensured that they don’t reach the knock-out stage of the competition.
New Zealand win the game, but #TeamIndia will look to make amends in their next match of the #T20WorldCup. #INDvNZ

On paper, the Men In Blue still have an outside chance of making it to the semi-finals but the only problem is that their fate is not in their own hands. Not only will they have to win their remaining three matches with a big margin but also pray that either Afghanistan or two other minnows in the group Scotland and Namibia get the better of Kane Williamson’s side.
Having won their first three matches, traditional rivals Pakistan already have their one foot in the semis and by defeating a disjointed Indian squad on Sunday, the Kiwis have also given themselves a realistic chance of making it to the last-four stage.

The position the Indian cricket is in right now nobody saw it coming. Many experts and fans around the world labelled Kohli and Co. as pre-tournament favourites but their performance has let everybody down. It’s hard to say who was at fault whether the experts overestimated India’s potential or whether players paid the price for their overconfidence.
One reason that nobody talks about is that the Indian players are staying in a restricted environment for the last six months and this bubble fatigue has finally started to take a toll on their body.

After Sunday’s defeat, fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah also acknowledged the same thing during the post-match press conference. The Indian players have been playing non-stop cricket since August, all this while staying in strict bio-bubbles.

“Absolutely, you need a break. Sometimes you miss your family after being on the road for 6 months. All of that sometimes plays on the back of your mind. But when you are on the field, you don't think about all of those things. You don't control all of those things the scheduling and all and what tournament is played when,” Bumrah said during the post-match presser.
“Obviously, staying in a bubble and staying away from your family for such a long time does play a role on the players' minds. But the BCCI has also tried their best to make us feel comfortable.
“But this is the reality of the times we are living in, it's difficult, it's a pandemic and we are staying in bubbles. We try to adapt but bubble fatigue and mental fatigue also creeps in. You are doing the same thing again and again. It is the way it is, and you can't control a lot of things over here,” he added.

But the question is how did it come to all this? Why the players weren’t allowed enough rest between two series. The simple answer to this is the BCCI’s greed.
It was the Indian cricket board’s money-mindedness that made them overlook the well-being of its players and forced them to play one competition after the other, with little to no respite in between.
Most of the players who are part of the 15-member T20 World Cup squad have been on the road since June, playing non-stop cricket. First, they turned up for the WTC final in June and then after a three-week break they went all out in the Test series against England. Whatever little breather they were supposed to have between the England tour and the T20 World Cup was taken up by the second-leg of the IPL.
© Reuters
With IPL being its cash-cow, the BCCI wanted to complete the season at all cost, even if that meant putting the players’ mental well-being at risk. Unlike foreign players who can choose if they want to be a part of the tournament or not, the Indian players don’t have this luxury and that’s the reason why we don’t see senior Indian players skipping the IPL, unless they are injured.
© Reuters
While it might sound like an excuse, it’s the BCCI’s love for money that quashed India’s hopes of winning the T20 World Cup even before the tournament began. For those who think there is no correlation between rest and performance, just look at the way the English and Australian players have performed in this tournament thus far.
The sad part is that the kind of money the BCCI earns from IPL, things will only get worse from here on. It’ll continue to treat players as if they are machines not human beings.

Two defeats in two games and India find themselves in a precarious situation in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Heading into the tournament, a team that was hailed as favourites by many experts has failed miserably in the opening two matches and is staring at an early exit after losing two straight matches.
Apart from the team's mediocre performance in all three departments, questions are also being asked about the team selection as to why some proven match-winners are warming the bench while those struggling for form are getting repeated chances in the Playing XI.

The player in question here is veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was picked in the 15-member squad owing to his experience but the skipper and team management don’t consider him good enough to feature in the starting line-up.
What’s baffling is that while other teams are playing with three spinners, the Indian team entered both the matches with three-pacers and two spinners, one of them a bowling all-rounder.
© Instagram Ravichandran Ashwin
Former England cricketer Nick Compton feels that “Kohli’s prickly relationship” with Ashwin is the reason why the off-spinner can’t find a place in the side. He even questioned if giving such an autonomy to a skipper is beneficial to the team.
I just don’t understand how Kohli’s prickly relationship with Ashwin is allowed to keep him out of Indian teams? Do you think Captains should be allowed such autonomy?
— Nick Compton (@thecompdog) October 31, 2021
“I just don’t understand how Kohli’s prickly relationship with Ashwin is allowed to keep him out of Indian teams? Do you think Captains should be allowed such autonomy?” Compton tweeted.
It was not the first time Ashwin was forced on the bench in the last few months. The World Number two Test bowler was constantly overlooked in all four Test matches in England and it was a decision that caused huge uproar on social media.
View this post on Instagram
When Ashwin was picked in the T20 World Cup squad, it came as a huge surprise to many, including batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, as he hadn’t played a white-ball match for India since 2017.
Gavaskar had termed his inclusion as a mere “consolation cup” to make up for the disappointment of getting snubbed from the Test team in England.
© Reuters
“Ashwin's return is a good thing but we'll have to wait and see if he gets a place in the playing XI. You have selected him in the 15, that's alright, you chose him in the squad in England as well but are not giving him the chance in the XI,” Gavaskar had said on Sports Tak.
“So, he's perhaps just given a consolation cup to make up for the disappointment that he might have from here (in England). Will he play in the XI? Only time will tell,” he added.
Back then Gavaskar received a lot of criticism for looking at things with a negative lens but it seems like he knew what he was saying. He had sensed that the skipper and the team management have included Ashwin as a backup resource as they don’t consider him good enough to make any positive impact in the side.
Compton has targeted Kohli in the past as well when he called the Indian skipper the "most foul-mouthed individual". However, this time even fans agreed that nothing else explains why Kohli was against the idea of seeing Ashwin in the Playing XI, despite a timid bowling performance in the opening match where they failed to pick any wickets.
You’re spot on @thecompdog , anyone can clearly see how @imVkohli clearly siding Ashwin, we seen that in England and now in World Cup, shame on him.
— Rahul More (@imrahul46) November 1, 2021So no Ashwin again today. Wonder why does Kohli dislike Ashwin so much. He is the best spinner in the world in last 1 decade. But Kohli wont play him even against teams with few left handers.
— Jiten Gajaria (@jitengajaria) October 31, 2021Yes, you are absolutely right. There might be some ego issues. Ashwin was a sure pick to bring experience on big occasion.
— Vivek (@sunnnnyshetty) November 1, 2021Ikr,it's unfortunate for indian cricket.
— Naresh kumar (@rrritu6882) October 31, 2021Spot On!
It baffles us fans how a captain can simply keep ignoring a senior and potent bowler all the time.
S.Waugh and Warne had issues. I guess Gilly and Warne too. But they always came together to win big tournaments.
Kohli has himself to blame for the ICC Trophy draught.
— Ceaser (@_King_Caesar) November 1, 2021Absolutely hit the nail on the head,Nick. A player like Ashwin should be playing such a pressure match. Honestly, Kohli is letting India down by being "personal" against Ashwin. Time for India to have a new captain in all formats. Kohli has run his race. #SackKohli
— GD (@DabralGunjan) October 31, 2021It is absurd that he is continuing with Hardik Pandya despite his poor form and fitness. And in which world Varun Chakraborty is better than Ashwin?
— naveen gandhi (@navgandhi) November 1, 2021So true - in Indian cricket - it’s what kohli wants - complete favoritism
— Gopal Khetan (@gopalkhetan123) October 31, 2021And it doesn’t matter if it’s due to his personal grudge with Kohli or not, what matters is that a player of Ashwin’s quality is being wasted on the bench. One of the biggest reasons why India lost the matches was because the players couldn’t cope with the pressure.
No matter how well you play in the IPL at the end of the day it's still a domestic tournament. Representing your country in a tournament like the T20 World Cup is a completely different ball game and this is where a player of Ashwin’s quality could have come in handy.

There would hardly be any kid who hasn’t been punished by teachers in school. Be it for talking in the class, eating lunch in the first period, forgetting homework or cheating in a class test, we have all been punished to learn discipline and decorum as kids.
© iStock
It’s a part of school life. However, some school teachers go overboard with the punishment without realising the outcome of it and how it affects the child. Case in point, this principal of a private school in UP’s Mirzapur who manhandled a student in a punishment that could be fatal.
© Twitter/Mirzapur Police
He dangled the kid studying in Class II from the first floor of the school building while the other kids watched. He punished the 5-year-old for being mischievous and held him upside down for 10 minutes until he begged for forgiveness.
© Twitter/IANS
The photo of the gruesome act went viral on social media, post which the principal was arrested.
https://t.co/3aKAhgEeqt
— Mirzapur Police (@mirzapurpolice) October 30, 2021
People compared it to the action crime series Mirzapur based on UP’s Mirzapur where this unfortunate incident took place. A user wrote, “Is everyone stuck in a day job while daydreaming of becoming Kaleen Bhaia in #Mirzapur, or is this special?”. Another wrote, “Mirzapur: The name is enough,” while some said it isn’t surprising since it happened in the glorious state of Uttar Pradesh.
© Prime Video
Another video was uploaded on Twitter which shows the principal has no regret for punishing the kid that way and claims this is what parents and guardians want to discipline the kids.
Yes, of course I hung a class 2 student upside down from the balcony. This is part of education at my schoolpic.twitter.com/Ml2egKpms3
— PKR | প্রশান্ত | پرشانتو (@prasanto) October 30, 2021
The incident came to notice because of the photo that got viral but so many other incidents like these go unnoticed and unreported, especially in schools in small cities and towns. Some teachers are coming up with new and positive ways to punish students but it seems like the modern methods of teaching are yet to reach the rural schools.

It is terrifying to think what the five-year-old kid must have gone through the entire time he was held upside down crying and begging his teacher to let him go.

Diljit Dosanjh is one Punjabi superstar who is said to be one of the finest actors and singers that the country has seen in a while, with his on-screen presence, his acting talent, and his musical ability striking a chord with almost everyone. Having made his superb Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab, he has starred in several movies like Phillauri, Soorma, Arjun Patiala, Good Newwz, and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari.
© Netflix
However, despite having a good run in Bollywood, Diljit is known to not be a big fan of the industry and has publicly called it out along with its stars.
Here are three times when Diljit admitted his disliking for Bollywood.
1. He Admits 'He Does Not Want To Be A Bollywood Star' © Instagram/Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit, despite earning plaudits from fans outside of Punjab for his Bollywood movies, came out to actually say that he had no intention of becoming a Bollywood star. “I have no desire of becoming a Bollywood star," he proudly said in an interview when asked of his ambitions of reaching the top heights in the glamour world of Mumbai.
In a situation where most actors or stars would probably rather give a diplomatic answer in order to not offend anyone from the industry, the Punjabi heartthrob really laid out his true feelings on a platter without any fear. This interview only reminded us of a scene that sort of looked like this.
© Twitter
2. He 'Doesn't Give A Damn About Getting Bollywood Work' © Facebook/Diljit Dosanjh
Take Kartik Aryan, Vicky Kaushal, Sidharth Malhotra, or anyone else for instance, and one thing you'll know is the key to success in the Bollywood business is to get more and more work. However, despite Diljit's raw talent and admirable work ethic, the reason why we probably don't see him in many movies is that he would rather focus on making music than care about getting Bollywood work.
In an interview with Film Companion, the actor spoke on how regardless of what anyone says about his music, he enjoys the full freedom and couldn't care less about Bollywood film projects.
"I love music, and without anybody's say, I can make my music. No superstar can tell me that this music won't work, or that someone else's song would work better, none of this works on me. Punjabi artists are independent, and that's great freedom to have. Nobody can stop us, nobody can stop me from making music. I will keep making music for as long as I want to, and for as long as God allows me to. And I don't give a damn about getting work in Bollywood.” he said.
3. 'Superstar Honge Apne Ghar Pe' © Twitter
Due to their status, Bollywood stars enjoy great authority in the industry and are often known to call the shots with respect to films, direction, casting, and whatnot. However, Diljit, one Gabru Jawaan from Punjab, who has had a taste of Bollywood with several films, spoke on his experience in the industry and how he is not star-struck by anyone, before stating that top actors are just 'superstars within their own homes.'
“If I speak up about it (his experience in Bollywood), it'll become a big deal. It's better to stay away from all this. Your eyes reveal everything. It isn't necessary to use words. And filmmaking is the kind of medium where it isn't necessary that you get lines. You have your face and your expressions and your eyes, which reveal everything. I'm not crazy about anybody; no actor, no director, nobody. They can be superstars in their own homes. Perhaps I should have said this before.”
Love him or hate him, you just can't disagree with the fact that he is Punjab's lion and ain't scared of anybody.
