Once known to be a force to be reckoned with on the cricketing pitch, Australian batter David Warner has simmered down from the pedestal of an elite scorer ever since his struggles with the form began back in the first leg of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League.
Scoring just 195 runs in 8 matches, Warner, who was the captain of the one-time IPL winning SunRisers Hyderabad, was not only dethroned as the skipper by his team management but was also dropped from the Playing XI just a day before the tournament had come to an indefinite half due to the COVID-19 outbreak in India.

    — SunRisers Hyderabad (@SunRisers) May 1, 2021
Until the previous season, Warner remained the most consistent batter for SRH. He had consistently scored over 500 runs every year while maintaining a strike rate of over 134 between 2013 and 2020. His greatest season with the squad was back in 2016 when he smashed an incredible 848 runs in 13 matches while leading his side to a title victory.
Therefore, when the team decided to reduce his stature to nothing more than a water boy, sitting behind the boundary line, waiting for his teammates to ask for drinks, fans felt that the franchise was absolutely in the wrong and that it was time for Warner to move on.
Unfortunately, it seems as if Warner’s bad form has trickled into the T20 World Cup 2021 which began less than a week after IPL 2021 got over in the United Arab Emirates.

If the two warm-up matches that Australia had, were a sign for things to come during the tournament, then the chances are that Warner may be looking at another disappointing outing. In the first friendly match against New Zealand, the opener was dismissed on a golden duck, while in the face-off against India, Warned could only score a solitary run before Ravichandran Ashwin trapped him for an LBW appeal.
His Australian compatriot, Brett Lee feels that it was the ill-treatment that Warner received during his time with the Hyderabad organisation during IPL 2021 which may have had an adverse impact on the cricketer’s psyche, which has led to his long drought in form.

"... this Australian side is loaded with talent and for me, the key is David Warner. I would like to say he is saving the runs for the games that count after his IPL form! He was really harshly dealt with there and it may have knocked some confidence out of him but he thrives on the big stage. Everything should be rosy for him here, class is permanent," Lee wrote in his column for the International Cricket Council.
Indian fans were in complete agreement with the Australian speedster and showed their support for Warner. Beloved by millions of fans in the subcontinent, it is hoped that he recovers his form during the tournament.
    @davidwarner31, feeling sorry for you

One of the most popular questions surrounding Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s new role as the mentor of the Indian cricket team during the T20 World Cup 2021 was about how well would he fit with the head coach of the squad, Ravi Shastri and how would the two divide coaching and mentoring assignment between themselves.
With more and more pictures appearing from the Indian campaign in which Dhoni can be seen sharing his expertise with players like Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, and being more visible on the ground, fans have begun to ask what Shastri, as the head of the coaching department, as to offer to the team that Dhoni isn’t already offering.
Dhoni- Process , Kohli - Intent , Rohit - Communicate , What will be Shastri strategy ? Only funny answers please :)
    — Vikram Sathaye (@vikramsathaye) October 21, 2021
And it did not take long for the trolling supporters of the Men in Blue to get back on their old habits of teasing the Indian coach:

    — ROHIT (@AnICTFan) October 21, 2021
Follow the process and instructions in the bottle. Drink with Intent. Call your ex and communicate. That’s his strategy

At this rate, Ravi Shastri's biggest achievement will be not getting summoned by NCB

Thankfully, there were some people who saw beyond the obvious trolling and actually acknowledged the facts that Shastri remains one of the easiest targets to make fun of in the Indian cricketing fraternity and that there are several reasons why he is considered to be one of the best coaches this squad has had the honour to get trained under.
Poor man , he’s one of the most targeted person in list of all Indian cricket team coaches

    — Gaurav (@khale_gaurav) October 21, 2021
How cruel social media and Life can be!! He is definitely one of the most successful coaches regardless of unnecessary meme won 2 overseas series in aus and almost 1 in England..
If india wins credit will go to Dhoni but if unfortunately we loose Virat and ravi will be ripped off
    — Criccraze with AJ (abhay jain) (@Abhay8042) October 21, 2021
Keeping aside all the trolling, u have to give credit to him for creating such a fear-less side. The fact that he took it upon his shoulders to make Rohit one of the best test match opening batsman tells us what Ravi is all about
    — Anurag Saha (@AnuragS95929258) October 21, 2021
Kickass. So that, all 4 strategies can be termed as PICK
    (Process, Intent, Communicate, Kickass)
    — Movielover (@Movieloverkg) October 21, 2021
Coach and manager should be a facilitator! I don’t understand what is the KPI that people think of Ravi Shastri. He able to get so many people to help without getting his ego hurt is good quality. I doubt many would do that in international sports. However as coach he is limited
    — Maddy Pillai (@madhav_murali) October 21, 2021
The T20 World Cup 2021 is Ravi Shastri’s last assignment as the head coach of the Indian cricket team and his tenure ends shortly after. Following the tournament, the former Indian skipper will go into the cooldown period which has been established by the BCCI to avoid fatigue and offer a fair trial to other possible candidates for the role of the most highly paid cricketing coach in the world.
Additionally, Shastri has also confirmed that he has no intentions of coming back as the head coach once the cooldown period is over. The BCCI have already announced that former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will be replacing Shastri as the head coach ahead of New Zealand’s tour of India in November.

    — The Times Of India (@timesofindia) October 16, 2021 As far as his chemistry with Dhoni is concerned, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had recently told the media that the coach was rather willing to have ‘Captain Cool’ become a part of the supporting staff as the team could use his experience in winning ICC tournaments.
“I spoke to the captain (Virat Kohli) and vice-captain (Rohit Sharma), as well as Ravi Shastri. They all are on the same page, so that’s why this matter has reached this conclusion (of creating a special ‘mentoring’ position for MS Dhoni).”

In a couple of days’ time, India and Pakistan will add a new chapter to their age-old rivalry in the T20 World Cup, which for billions is the biggest in world cricket. Ahead of the mega clash, the excitement has hit the roof, with fans and experts placing their bets on either of the two sides.

The Men in Blue are yet to lose a single game against their bitter rivals as far as the World Cup (both ODI and T20) is concerned and this year also they go into the tournament as clear favourites. That said, if there was one format where Team India needs to be vary of Babar Azam’s men, then it’s the shortest format.

Speaking about the marquee clash, former England spinner Monty Panesar said that the Indian team is clearly the favourites to keep their unbeaten run intact, if they can get rid of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam early on in the game.

Like many experts Panesar also feels that India’s top-three of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are the best in the world but they still need to be vary of Pakistan’s pacers, especially Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has grown in leaps and bounds in the last couple of years and can cause a threat to the Indian batters.

Monty Panesar believes Babar Azam is the key wicket for India.#BabarAzam #INDvPAK #CricketTwitter pic.twitter.com/qRgQSMOMNo
    — CricTracker (@Cricketracker) October 21, 2021
“For Pakistan, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen is a wonderful left-arm seamer and he will eye more and more Indian wickets. I am sure Virat and KL Rahul have enough practice against the left-arm seamers. If India bowlers get rid of Babar Azam early, they can destroy Pakistan like a pack [house] of cards,” Panesar told The Times of India in an exclusive interview.

India became the first-ever World T20 champion way back in 2007 and their last major trophy came in 2011 when they defeated Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup final at Mumbai’sWankhede Stadium.

Since then the Men in Blue have suffered several heartbreaking losses in major ICC tournaments , including the 2013 Champions Trophy final, which they lost to Pakistan.

As cliche as it may sound, past laurels or defeats count for nothing because the team that plays better cricket on the given day returns home with two points.

While players might not accept it openerly but the pressure for the India-Pakistan game is significantly higher than most of the other matches and Sunday’s encounter will be no different. It remains to be seen who destroys whom but one thing is for sure that it’ll be one hell of a clash.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni agreed to become the mentor for the Indian cricket team, not more than a couple of months ago and the former skipper seems to know exactly what and how does he need to train the young guns of the squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021.
With just two days left for the Virat Kohli-led side to play their first official match of the tournament against Pakistan, a video of ‘mentor’ Dhoni imparting invaluable wicket-keeping knowledge to his prodigy, Rishabh Pant, had gone viral on social media.

Fans from all corners of the country were simply overjoyed to watch their favourite wicket-keeper of all time being finally back in a Team India jersey, albeit as a mentor of the supporting staff.
The sight of a young and energetic Pant getting to embrace the years and years of unorthodox knowledge that a keeper as unique as Dhoni gathered over the course of decades of experience had their supporters raving online.

According to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, the plans of having Dhoni onboard as the mentor for the Indian side wasn’t even a plan until the second leg of the Indian Premier League began in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
The unofficial position of being a mentor to the team was specifically made for ‘Thala’ simply because of the kind of winning experience that he possesses when it comes to World Cups and other ICC tournaments.

“He was okay with my decision and agreed to be a Team Mentor of Team India for the T20 World Cup only. I am glad that MS (Dhoni) has accepted the BCCI’s offer and he is keen to contribute to the national team once again. MS will work closely with Ravi Shastri as well as other support staff to provide support and direction to Team India,” Shah had said.
It was also revealed by the Indian cricket board official that ‘Captain Cool’ had agreed to fulfill this duty while taking absolutely no special salary from the organisation and that he made his services available to the squad for free.

At 40 years of age, Dhoni also won his fourth IPL title as the CSK skipper mere days before starting his campaign with the Indian squad.

With just a couple of days left for India’s first match of the T20 World Cup 2021 against Pakistan, former Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq’s comments about the Virat Kohli-led squad are making headlines among international cricket fans.
"In any tournament, it cannot be said for certain that a particular team will win. It's all about how much chance do they have of winning it. In my opinion, India have a greater chance than any other team of winning this tournament, especially in conditions like these. They have experienced T20 players as well," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.

"India played their warm-up fixture against Australia rather comfortably. On subcontinent pitches like these, India are the most dangerous T20 side in the world. Even today, if we see the 155 runs they chased down, they did not even need Virat Kohli to do so," he added.
The Pakistani great’s remark came a day after former England skipper and analyst Michael Vaughan had made a rather eyebrow-raising comment about the Men in Blue, in which he said that he didn’t understand the reason behind Team India being seen as a favourite to win the tournament this time around.
"I don't know how India get the 'Favourites' tag in T20 Cricket." - Michael Vaughan (To BBC Test match special)
    — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) October 20, 2021
“England for me are the favourites. I don’t know how India get the 'favourites' tag in T20 cricket. I just think they’ve been a long way off in the last few tournaments,” Vaughan had said in the BBC Test Match Special podcast earlier this week.
“West Indies and Pakistan will be threats. I wouldn’t write off Pakistan either. New Zealand have high-class players and you know they will come up with strategies to win games,” he had added.
    View this post on Instagram
India dominated two of the four SENA teams during the warm-up matches which were held in the past couple of days. First, they defeated Eoin Morgan’s England side by seven wickets, which was followed by an eight-wicket victory against Aaron Finch’s Australian squad in which Virat Kohli acted as a bowler and a tailender, rather than a top-order batter.
"The match between India and Pakistan in the Super 12s is the final before the final. No match will be hyped as much as this one. Even in the 2017 Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan started and finished the tournament by facing each other and both the matches felt like finals. The team winning that match will have their morale boosted and will also have 50 percent of pressure released from them," Inzamam-ul-Haq concluded in his video.
