The Indian Premier League (IPL)Β is set to welcome two new franchises from the next season, tender for which has already been floated.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fixed the base price for the new teams at Rs 2,000 crore but the Indian board is expecting to generate a revenue of anywhere in the region of Rs 7,000 to 10,000 crore from the bidding. The two new teams will be announced on Monday, October 25 in Dubai -- a day after India take on Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
Β© Twitter IPL
Apart from that, the BCCI is also expecting to earn around Rs 36,000 crore from the sale of IPL broadcast rights, TV and digital combined, for the next five years between 2023-28, as reported by news agency Press Trust of India.
βBut with two new teams about to fetch anything between βΉ7000 crore to 10,000 crore, the broadcast rights are certainly going to shoot through the roof. So expect the IPL broadcast rights to go for anything above USD 4 billion and may be up to USD 5 billion,β the PTI quoted an official as saying.
Β© Twitter IPL
The fact that the current five-year deal that was won by Star India back in 2018 cost them around Rs 16,347 crore and it made it one of the most costliest sports leagues in the world as far as per match valuation was concerned.
In the last five years, the IPL has grown to such an extent that the companies fighting for the new broadcast rights might have to pay nearly double of the amount that Star India splashed three years back.

This news spread like a wildfire on social media and fans were astonished to hear the amount that the BCCI could earn in the coming years. Some people even took the opportunity to take a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), suggesting that this amount could be more than the neighbouring countryβs total economy.
By the way that's more than Pakistani economy

β Midhun M.G (@midhunok) October 21, 2021
Some fans, however, werenβt too happy about the fact that the Indian board was more focussed on filling up its coffers and was not doing enough to promote womenβs cricket, not spending enough on improving infrastructure, and not taking measures to improve the life of domestic cricketers.
You have to mention how much BCCI spends right ??.. Mentioning the incoming for BCCI alone is not fair ..
β Sai Swaroop (@saiswaroop_45) October 22, 2021
Atleast hope they will use it to improve the infrastructure in stadiums. Shit old infrastructure, give fans something to expect ou there.

β Ashish Kumar (@AshishK64476973) October 21, 2021
While the actual amount that the BCCI could end up making from the broadcast deal might vary but this reported amount is a clear indication that not just cricket the IPL is well and truly on path to become the hottest sports property in the world.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of the few actresses in Bollywood who havenβt stopped working even after marriage or having kids.Β
In fact, she was walking the ramp, doing ads and shooting for the films while she was pregnant both times, first with Taimur and then with her younger son,Β Jeh. And, she bounced back and started working again after a short maternity leave.Β
Β© Instagram/Kareena Kapoor Khan
Itβs obvious that her sons see her working just as hard as their father, Saif Ali Khan, which is a great example of gender equality.Β
Kareena recently said in an interview that she is making sure that her boys know that both their parents work and are equal in every sense.
Β© Instagram/Kareena Kapoor Khan
While talking to an entertainment portal, Kapoor talked about how important it is for the kids to know that itβs not only the man of the house who does things.
βWell, in the case of Tim and Jeh, I think the idea is that they see me go to work even now. Like when, every time I put on my shoes, Taimur asks βwhere are you going?β My answer is βIβm going to work or Iβm going to shoot or Iβm going for an event or Iβm going for a meeting because amma has to workβ,β she said.Β
She added, βSo, abba works and so does amma. I think growing up looking at the fact that in this house, itβs not just the man who does things, we both do things equally.β

This is parenting advice to take note of. Not many people understand that gender stereotypes and gender roles are taught to kids very early on in their life. Even if itβs not directly communicated to them, children adapt and learn from what they see at home.Β
Seeing mom always cooking in the kitchen and dad going to work is the first gender stereotype we learn and end up blaming and hating as we grow up.Β Kareena clearly doesn't want that for her kids.
Β© Instagram/Kareena Kapoor Khan
She further said, βWeβre both bringing food to the table, weβre both very clear on the fact that weβre both working as a couple. Weβre dependent on each other emotionally, and financially we share. And if my boys grow up knowing that their mother has the capability and demands that kind of respect in her home and gets it. Goes out to work, works hard, comes home so that they can have a good life.βΒ
I think thatβs half the battle won. Itβs important for the boys to know that women are equal to men. A mother is their fatherβs equal,β she concluded.

Gender equality does begin at home and Kareena raising her kids with the idea of men and women being equal is something every parent shouldΒ teach their childrenΒ as well.

The diplomatic tensions between the two Asian neighboursΒ has kept them from engaging in bi-lateral cricket series for over eight years and fans had to wait for multi-nation tournaments to see both these sides lock horns on a cricket field.
Their wait will finally be over in two dayβs time when both the arch-rivals will open their T20 World Cup campaign against each other at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Β© Reuters
The tournament officially started last week but everyone expects the competition to pick up pace with the world cricketβs biggest rivalry on Sunday. Fans from both sides want their teams to win at all costs but they also want to witness an exciting game of cricket.
Given their past record and current form, the Men In Blue are outright favourites to win the match. Barring Hardik Pandyaβs fitness concerns and a lack of proper fast-bowling all-rounder, the team is well-balanced and they showed a glimpse of their ruthlessness during the warm-up games against two top oppositions like England and Australia.
Β© Reuters
Ahead of the marquee clash, the former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has tried to create a divide among the fans by making a rather unnecessary comment about Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma, who is set to become Indiaβs next T20 captain after the T20 World Cup 2021.
Speaking on a TV show, the Rawalpindi Express said that the Pakistani fans are very fond of the Indian cricketers and they love most of the players who do well at the international level.
Β© Reuters
He then added that in his country people like Rohit more than Kohli and call him Indiaβs Inzamam-ul-Haq. Many think that that by comparing the Mumbai Indians skipper to the Pak great he was trying to take a dig at his fitness level.
βIn Pakistan, people like and appreciate Indian cricketers. They praise Virat Kohli, they consider Rohit Sharma even more than Kohli. They call him Indiaβs Inzamam,β Akhtar said on Zee News.
Β© Reuters
While Inzamam was a great player, he was not known for his fitness. He was one of the heaviest cricketers to have played the game at the international level and often received a lot of criticism for being overweight.
Rohit, on the other hand, doesnβt boast a lean physique but that doesnβt mean he falls into the category of unfit cricketers. He plays in a team where fitness is given utmost importance and without clearing it there was no way he could have earned so many international caps.
Β© Reuters
Also, by pitting Indiaβs two modern-day greats against each other, the worldβs fastest bowler was trying to create a sense of animosity among the India fans and spark the age-old debate of who is better, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma.
Instead of making these comments, it would have been great had he talked about the strengths and weaknesses of his side and what makes this Babar Azam-led side Β different than those teams who suffered nothing but humiliation against India whenever in each of the previous 11 World Cup games.

Call it what you may, but it sort of looks like Bollywood actors haveΒ clearly been having a very hard time in the last one or two years.
Whether it was things in the aftermath of the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, the Covid-pandemic hitting the earnings for films from movie theatres, or theΒ Aryan KhanΒ drug scandal, Bollywood superstars just cannot get a break.
Β© BCCL
Now, as if we were not getting enough about the developments on Aryan Khan's arrest, BollywoodΒ superstar Aamir Khan has landed himself in trouble after his new ad created a stir amid Hindus.
In the new Ceat Tyre ad, Aamir Khan can be seen advising people not to burst crackers on the streets, in what could be viewed as a moral lesson on catering for the safety of commuters.
Diwali is a major Hindu festival, where bursting crackers is seen as one of the go-to things that many children and adults do.
However, the things come at a cost in terms of air & noise pollution along with the safety of people and stray animals in general.
Just soon after the ad was released for the public, BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde could be heard taking objection to it.
Β© Twitter
The lawmaker asked Ceat directly to also address the "problem of blocking roads in the name of Namaz and noise emitted from mosques during Azan."
Hegde, in a letter to the company's MD and CEO Anant Vardhan Goenka, requested them to take notice as to how the recent ad has created "unrest among the Hindus", and how they can design them better to be more respectful.
"Your company's recent advertisement in which Aamir Khan advising people, not to firecrackers on the streets is giving a very good message. Your concern for public issues needs applause. In this regard, I request you to address one more problem faced by people on roads, i.e., blocking roads in the name of Namaz on Fridays and other important festive days by Muslims," he said.
Further, the BJP MP said "As you are very keen and sensitive towards the problems faced by the general public and you also belong to the Hindu community, I am sure you can feel the discrimination done to the Hindus for centuries. Nowadays, a group of Anti-Hindu actors always hurt the Hindu sentiments whereas they never try to expose the wrongdoings of their community."
As per reports, another lawmaker requested the company to highlight the issue of noise pollution coming from mosques in general.
"Every day loud noise is emitted from mikes arranged on the top of mosques in our country when Azan is given". he said.
Whatever Ceat now chooses to do, Aamir Khan is quite in the centre of things.
