With only days left in the India vs Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup, the anticipation around the marquee clash has increased exponentially on various social media platforms -- albeit not all of it is positive.
A section of Indian fans are demanding the boycott of the match in the wake of recent killings of innocent civilians in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
But there is also a vast majority of supporters who are not in favour of mixing sports and politics and want the match to go ahead as scheduled.

While Indian fans have fond memories of playing against Pakistan, their counterparts are still haunted by all the losses they endured in the World Cups (both ODI and T20I) in the last two decades.
As far as the T20 World Cup is concerned, both sides have come face to face on five occasions in the tournament and India emerged victorious in all of them. All those victories came under MS Dhoni’s leadership but he has retired from international cricket and the responsibility of keeping India’s unbeaten run intact lies on Virat Kohli’s shoulders, who has decided to relinquish T20I captaincy after the tournament.

Despite India’s unbeaten run, ahead of every new match Pakistani supporters rally behind their team, hoping for a change of result. The last time these two sides faced off was during the group stage of the 2019 ODI World Cup and India had registered a convincing victory in a rain-curtailed encounter in Manchester.
After the match, a lot of memes of Pakistani fans expressing their disappointment over their side’s lacklustre performance had gone viral on social media. One such meme featuring a British-Pakistani influencer Momin Saqib had taken social media by storm.

— Ibrahim Tariq Shafi (@IbrahimTShafi) June 16, 2019
His famous “Maaro Mujhe Maaro” rant had made him an overnight sensation. The Pakistani fans resonated with the disappointment in his eyes as he slammed Pakistani players’ shoddy fitness levels and questioned their eating habits.
Not just in Pakistan, the video became a huge hit across the border as well, where fans enjoyed Saqib’s slamming his own players after yet another loss in a comic manner.
More than two years after the defeat, Saqib has posted yet another video on his Instagram account, showing his excitement for the upcoming clash between India and Pakistan.
View this post on Instagram
In the video he can be heard saying that there are only two big encounters in cricket, one between India and Pakistan and the other one with Aamir Khan in Lagaan. He signs off by saying this match is a must-win for Pakistan at all costs.
Supporters from both the countries flooded the comments section trying to troll each other. While Indian fans were confident of Virat Kohli’s team maintaining their unbeaten run, Pakistani supporters more than players’ skills relied on their prayers for their side’s turn of fortunes. More than two years after the 2019 World Cup loss, the pain in Saqib’s voice was still there.

India will open its T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan in Dubai on October 24 and would be looking to register their sixth win on the trot in the tournament’s history over their bitter-rivals.

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has given his predictions for the T20 World Cup 2021, conveying that Eoin Morgan’s squad is the team to beat during the tournament. However, he didn’t stop before calling out Team India for being called the “favourites” in the shortest format of the game.
"I don't know how India get the 'Favourites' tag in T20 Cricket." - Michael Vaughan (To BBC Test match special)
— CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) October 20, 2021
“England for me are the favourites. I don’t know how India get the 'favourites' tag in T20 cricket. I just think they’ve been a long way off in the last few tournaments,” Vaughan said in the BBC Test Match Special podcast.
Usually, the fans of the Men in Blue are very possessive about their team and will fight anyone who said anything similar to what Vaughan said. However, this time around, they ended up thanking the Englishman for his comments:
We will never forget your contribution, thank you @MichaelVaughan

— Aditya (@CricCrazyAdi) October 20, 2021Thanks @MichaelVaughan
Adha kam to aapne kar diya.
— Rahul_parmar (@rahulparmar737) October 20, 2021Thankyou @MichaelVaughan
— lawgical Anna (@annaanupam1) October 20, 2021Why such a weird reaction? Well, Vaughan is known for getting his predictions wrong more often than not. Usually, the team he ends up underestimating, comes out on top, while defeating the side he had been supporting publicly.

He also went on to name the two teams that he feel posed the biggest threat to England from winning the trophy namely the West Indies and Pakistan. “West Indies and Pakistan will be threats. I wouldn’t write off Pakistan either. New Zealand have high-class players and you know they will come up with strategies to win games,” said the former cricketer.
When it comes to the great rivals from Down Under, Vaughan wasn’t too enthusiastic about Australia’s chances this time around, especially with the kind of form in which David Warner and Steve Smith had found themselves to be during the IPL 2021 season.

"I’ll say it now, I don’t give Australia much chance. In T20 cricket they’ve struggled. Glenn Maxwell’s exceptional so he will have to have an incredible tournament. But I don’t see the Aussies doing too much. England, India, West Indies, New Zealand, one of those four and maybe Pakistan because of the conditions,” Vaughan said.
India defeated England by 7 wickets and an over to spare during their warm-up match which took place at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Monday.

Javed Akhtar is often in the headlines for his controversial statements and people leave no chance to troll him for his opinions. This time is no different as he is under the radar of trolls for defending Aryan Khan’s case and comparing it with the Adani Port drug case. Khan was arrested in connection with possession of drugs aboard a cruise ship.
View this post on InstagramA lot of Bollywood celebs have supported Aryan and highlighted how it's a deliberate attempt to defame Shah Rukh Khan and his family. Now, Javed Akhtar, in one of the press conferences in Mumbai has addressed the issue and said Bollywood is being targeted. Akhtar told reporters, "This is the price the film industry has to pay for being high profile. When you're high profile, people have fun pulling you down, throwing muck at you. If you're a nobody, then who has the time to throw stones at you?"
Without taking names, Akhtar said how Aryan Khan’s arrest became a National news and media has completely ignored the case of "one billion dollar" drug recovery from a port, referring to the seizure of 2,988 kg of heroin at Mundra Port located in Kutch district of Gujarat.
He went on to say, “You find cocaine worth one billion dollars at a port, somewhere else there were 1200 people where ganja and a total sum of ₹1 lakh 30 thousand is found, according to media reports. Now this has become a big national news but I haven't seen any headline on the billion dollar cocaine.”
Here’s the video of the event that has been doing the rounds on internet:
#WATCH | I've not seen any headline on recovery of cocaine worth 1 billion dollars at a port but the recovery of charas or ganja worth 1.30 lakh has become national news. This is the price film industry has to pay for being high profile: Lyricist Javed Akhtar in Mumbai pic.twitter.com/OmaO2UsQL7

Javed Akhtar’s statements haven’t gone down too well with the people on social media who are now bashing him for supporting and defending Aryan. They also said that he should have read the news about the Adani case being investigated before making these comments.

Riteish Deshmukh recently joked about how he was temporarily out of work when TikTok was banned in India and was happy when Instagram introduced its reels feature.
We have been seeing the couple making a lot of funny videos with each other.
Riteish said that he and Genelia began making videos during the Covid-19 lockdown last year to lighten everyone’s mood as they were going through a grim time. He also said that their posts soon became popular with fans.

In an interview with Mashable India, Riteish said, “It started during the lockdown and it was a time when everyone went through tough times and we thought, ‘Let’s give them a reason to smile,’ and we started cracking jokes at our own expense and people started enjoying it. So that one led to another and I think it’s fun to bring a smile to someone’s face, a happy moment in their life.”
He further said, “I started with TikTok and when they banned TikTok, I was momentarily unemployed. I thought, ‘Oh God, abhi kya karoon main? Jo kaam tha woh toh chala gaya.’ Reels aa gaya, maine kaha, ‘Chalo, Reels hi sahi’ (I thought, ‘Oh God, what do I do now? I have no work anymore.’ When Reels was introduced, I was glad).”

The couple are seen as the host of the second Ladies Vs Gentlemen, which is currently streaming on Flipkart Video.

With less than a week left for India to play their first match of the T20 World Cup 2021, batter KL Rahul has addressed what it feels like having Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the dressing room once again, albeit as a mentor and not a teammate, this time around.
During a Red Bull interaction, Rahul spoke about the former skipper’s presence in the Men in Blue ahead of the big tournament and the biggest advantage that he brings along with him, wherever he goes.
View this post on Instagram
“Obviously, MS Dhoni (being) back with the team feels amazing because we have played under him and we have looked towards him as a mentor even when he was our captain,” Rahul said following a well-appreciated half-century against England in India’s first warm-up match.
“We loved having him in the dressing room when he was the captain. We loved the calmness. We have all looked up to him to help us out, to have him here is amazing."
View this post on Instagram
“This gives us a sense of calmness, I have enjoyed spending time with him in the first two to three days and it has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to chewing his brain about cricket, captaincy and all things cricket,” he added.
Earlier this month, Dhoni had once again proven his mettle as a supreme captain and tactician when he lifted his fourth Indian Premier League title alongside the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the United Arab Emirates.

However, a lot of questions were raised about the skipper’s struggle with the bat. Much like the end of IPL 2020, fans were also inquisitive about whether this was going to be Dhoni’s last season. And just like IPL 2020, Dhoni shot down all such rumours and assured the fans that he will be back for IPL 2022 as well.
“None of us are sure that IPL 2021 final was his last game,” Rahul, who was the captain of Punjab Kings and got knocked out of IPL 2021 ahead of the playoffs, added while complimenting Dhoni and his highly decorated career so far.
