Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal has been one actor who really has had an upward trajectory unlike any other actor with the credit clearly going to his raw talent and physical presence that he brings to the screen. The 33-year-old actor landed his first leading role in the independent drama film Masaan back in 2015.

The film earned him many accolades with the IIFA award and the Screen Awards being a few of them.

Well, Vicky really hasn't looked back since and followed it up with power-packed performances in Raazi, Sanju, and Uri: The Surgical Strike, the film that finally got him the National Film Award for Best Actor. Well, with some really big commercial hits under his belt, it would really seem like Vicky has had a smooth ride due to the fact that he is the son of action director Sham Kaushal.

However, the actor says that it has really been anything but that. Vicky, while speaking to Zoom TV, said that like every other actor in India, he too, had to battle with hundreds and thousands of people in order to prove his mettle.

"When you start giving auditions, aapko pata chalta hai ki aap kitne paani mein ho (you realize where you stand). Because you are competing with hundreds and thousands of people who want the same job," he said.
The actor also opened up on the insecurities faced during his struggling days. "You go and stand in queues with hundreds of other actors. And actors who are very good actors and you’re sitting in rooms with some people who are doing a far better job than you...Sometimes, it kind of takes a toll on you and it really accentuates your insecurities and inferiorities. Then you have to keep surpassing that every day of your life till you get that job, you do good in that and then your confidence starts building up." he added.

Vicky also spoke on how despite the tremendous competition for places, he really did not have a  'safety net' or a 'plan B'. “What people don’t realize is that if I’ve cracked 10 auditions, I've actually failed in 1,000 auditions. I got rejected in a thousand auditions but I got selected in 10 but what is visible is only the 10 opportunities that I got, and sabko lagta hai ki arey yeh toh aasani se mil gaya (everyone thinks ‘he got it easily’)...I had no option... I knew I don’t have any safety net and if I fall from here, it’s straight on the ground because I have nothing in the pedal. So having no plan B also gives you a lot of strength,” he said.

Vicky's latest project is the biopic Sardar Udham where he plays Sardar Udham Singh, the freedom fighter who assassinated former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India Michael O'Dwyer in 1940.
Singh had carried out the assassination to avenge the brutal killings of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre back in 1919.

Depression looks nothing like what it sounds and feels like.
Most people who are in pain don’t even realise that they are suffering from a mental health issue while some don’t show.
People who make others laugh are sometimes the most depressed people and no one can make out the sadness behind their smiles.

Some of the most popular and talented comedians have admitted to having depression.

While they made us laugh out loud on stage, they fought the demons in their minds behind the stage.
Charlie Chaplin was one, and so are some other (not all, obviously) comedians who have opened up about battling depression.

Sunny Deol made his acting debut with the film Betaab in 1983. He has starred in a number of hit movies like Ghayal, Border, and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

However, his wife Pooja Deol has chosen a life away from the limelight, exactly like his mother Prakash Kaur.
The actor was once asked about the women in the Deol household staying away from the spotlight and he clarified that it was their own decision.
    View this post on Instagram
He said in an interview with Deccan Chronicle in 2013, “Neither my mother nor my wife was forced to stay away from the limelight. My wife is her own person. She has always had the liberty to make her own decisions. To not make public appearances is her own call. Like I said, neither my father (Dharmendra) nor I have forced the women in our family to follow our rules.”
Pooja, Prakash, and even Sunny’s sisters Vijeta Deol and Ajeita Deol have opted for a life away from the spotlight. However, Dharmendra's second wife, Hema Malini chose to continue her career in the film industry after marriage.

The couple’s older daughter Esha Deol is also an actor and part of the industry.

Currently, Sunny Deol has been busy with his political career in the last few years. The actor is an elected Member of the Parliament from the Gurdaspur constituency.
He will be seen next in his upcoming film Apne 2, in which he will reunite with Dharmendra and Bobby Deol.
The family franchise will also star Sunny's son Karan Deol. The film was initially set for a Diwali 2021 release but has now been delayed.

After a long wait and anticipation, the trailer of Kartik Aaryan's Dhamaka is out. After giving the viewers a taste of his goofy side, Kartik is showing them another side and the massive potential the actor has. He has proved that he isn’t just limited to just one genre and he is here to stay for long.
View this post on InstagramIn Dhamaka, Kartik will be essaying the character of a news anchor named Arjun Pathak and he does look promising. And we’re definitely looking forward to the release on 19 November on Netflix. The trailer shows Arjun getting a call about a bomb attack on Mumbai's Bandra Worli Sea Link during his radio programme. You will get to see the dilemma of a media personnel who is trying to fight his conscience as he gets stuck in a situation. He is torn between getting TRPs for the channel and his ethics.
Things get worse for Arjun when the terrorist tells him to call a minister and tell him to apologize otherwise he would blow up the remaining Sea Link and kill everyone there. It gets tricky for Arjun as his wife, played by Mrunal Thakur, who is a reporter and is at the crime scene.
    Here’s the trailer:

In a statement, Kartik Aaryan said, “It became a cakewalk because of Ram Madhvani sir. He is a maverick. He shoots in a very different style. Everyone who knows him can vouch he is different as a director. The film is based in a room and everything is real. He has a unique filmmaking style where he never even says action and allows actors to start. 'I am at your service' is his line and he follows it to the T. It was challenging when I heard the script but he made it easy for me.”
People are loving the trailer and feel Kartik has nailed the character. They feel he has stepped out of his comfort zone and has shown that he is more than just an actor who does only boy-next-door roles. People are also appreciating the background score of the trailer. People went on to say that this was way too unexpected but Kartik has raised the bar by delivering a powerful performance in the trailer.

Uday Chopra might not have made it big in Bollywood but he is surely nailing the Twitter game for years now. His tweets from October 8 have left fans and social media users a little intrigued as they feel he has turned out to be a revelation with his existential tweets. When we think of Uday Chopra, we are are reminded of times when he used to be the butt of jokes, thanks to his character in the Dhoom series.
    View this post on Instagram
We stalked him on Twitter to compile a bunch of his tweets to tell you that he is completely different in real life. His tweets on the existence of God, his perspective on free will and the idea of choice, and much more has made us feel he is the millennial philosopher we need but don't deserve.
Here are a couple of his tweets:
    1. The Idea Of Choice And Free Will Uday Chopra says that we never had any choice and his tweet reads as “Choice is a function of the situation that precedes it. We are born to parents without choice, in an environment without choice, with DNA and personality without choice. Everything that makes us who we are is not of our choosing, how then can anything we do be called #freewill. However, people might construe this as evidence of the divine. Since we have no free will, determinism is the natural argument. But determinism is random. It’s not pre-determinism. It is the acts of particles that affect other particles and hence create a random outcome.”
Read it again. We know! Profound, right?

    2. A Paradoxical ReligionIt’s undeniably true that many wars in the past have happened because of religion and Uday Chopra has a solution for it as he plans to start a paradoxical religion and believes humanity should be the ultimate calling. He wrote, “I always wanted to start a paradoxical religion. I even named it Shunya, a zero religion, where the followers are shunned if they followed the doctrines, but I feared that even being shunned would eventually become virtuous. It was my take on humanity’s need for the divine.”

    3. Imperfection Is NormalIn the world of competition, we all are seeking perfection and want our lives to be picture perfect, but Uday has a different way of seeing life. He believes, “Life isn’t perfect! Cause eventually It’s the imperfections that astonish us, the stuff that tears us away from our normalcy. Sure one could seek perfection, just never expect it. Cause it’s our imperfections, when They begin to fit together, is when it will finally complete us.”
    © Twitter/Uday Chopra
    4. We Are Dammed If We Care About What Others Think Of UsWe are conditioned to constantly seek validation from people and be appreciated for whatever we do. We are dependent on even the shallowest of human beings to give us the pleasure of existence or working a certain way but that shouldn’t be the case. Uday makes it very clear as he tweets, “Being liked is an act of subservience. Eventually, we must cater to the view that the majority holds, else we are disliked. And that's when we become damned, for that's all we end up caring about, what others think! But the thought has so much more in store for us if we just follow our own.” We are impressed, Guruji!

    5. Hum Science Ki Taraf Se Hai!Uday's tweet about the difference between religion and science really hits home. He writes, “Science proclaims that what we know is only the truth we have so far ascertained. Science never says it knows the absolute truth. Its endeavor however is to search for it, religion will say that it is the absolute truth and that there can be no other truth. That’s the difference.”

People can't keep calm after reading his tweets. Some are calling it a big revelation and some are making memes on the entire episode.

Virat Kohli is arguably the most celebrated cricketer not just in India but the whole world. The reason behind his massive popularity is his huge online fan-following. Whatever he does on the field and off it as well starts trending online, thanks to his die-hard fan base.
    © Reuters
However, social media is like a double-edged sword that brings both praise and criticism in abundance. On Monday, the Indian skipper, who is currently in the UAE for the T20 World Cup, faced a severe backlash after he posted an advertisement on his various social media handles, including Twitter and Instagram.

Kohli posted the video as a part of a promotional campaign for image-sharing social media platform Pinterest, where he said that he would be sharing “personal tips” on how to celebrate a “meaningful Diwali” with the loved ones and family members.
    © Reuters
“It's been a tough year for all of us all around the world, especially in India with wave 2 (Covid-19) hitting us in 2021. As we get ready for Diwali in this festive season, I will be sharing some of my tips for you to celebrate with loved ones and family,” Kohli said in a video message shared on his Twitter handle.

While he didn’t share any tips, he did ask the users to stay tuned by following his Pinterest account, the link to which he shared in his profile bio. The link has since been removed, perhaps as a result of the backlash.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a series of my personal tips for celebrating a meaningful Diwali with loved ones and family. Stay tuned by following my Pinterest profile 'viratkohli' - link in bio @Pinterest#diwali2021 #AD pic.twitter.com/KKFxyK3UTG

“Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing a series of my personal tips for celebrating a meaningful Diwali with loved ones and family. Stay tuned by following my Pinterest profile 'viratkohli' - link in bio,” Kohli wrote on the micro-blogging site.
Kohli’s video message irked a section of his supporters who assumed that he would once again be advising them not to burst firecrackers on the ‘Festival of Light’.  People used hashtags like #SunoKohli and #BhaunkMatKohli to express their anger.
Personal tips.....! And why does he assume we need tips from him on how to make our festivals meaningful?!

Don't Give us Gyan, You Fool #भौंक_मत_कोहली pic.twitter.com/Cyo8PMmczo
    — आकांक्षा (@Anku0307) October 18, 2021Instead of telling people how to celebrate the festival, people advised him to focus on improving his performance and winning the T20 World Cup, which would be his last tournament as the skipper of the Indian team in the shortest format.
Some people even gave the whole issue a religious angle, accusing Kohli of doing activism only during Hindu festivals and keeping mum during any other occasion.
    © Twitter BCCI
First of all, Kohli didn’t say anything about not burning firecrackers this year. It was people who assumed what he would say and started criticising him left, right and centre.

Secondly, even if he had said this, he wouldn’t have been wrong because air pollution is a big issue in our country and the situation becomes even worse after Diwali each year. The visibility drops down considerably and breathing becomes extremely difficult due to the presence of hazardous particles in the air.

Those who are bashing Kohli must realise that even the Supreme Court of the country has clamped down on the firecrackers manufacturers and encouraged the production of only green firecrackers to protect the “right to life of innocent citizens” who have to suffer due to somebody's else few seconds on enjoyment.

Targeting Kohli for something which he didn’t even say only shows how dumb some people can be.

We all have had our fair share of epic online shopping fails. It’s super annoying when the product you receive looks completely different from the picture shown on the website.
While a different colour or a different design is still forgivable, you lose your faith in online shopping when it’s a whole different product altogether like when you receive a soap bar instead of an iPhone 12.
    © iStock
Let’s not even talk about the taunts you get from your desi parents for buying ‘online’ instead of their trusted shopwalas.

Something similar happened to this one guy who probably got an earful from his parents too after he ordered a pair of football stockings from a major Indian shopping website and when he received it, he realised it looked nothing like what he had ordered.
Because it was a Triumph bra in size 34 CC. And, not even a sports bra. Just saying.
    © iStock
He took to Twitter to share the hilarious shopping blunder. He wrote, “Ordered football stockings. Received a triumph bra. @myntra's response? "Sorry, can't replace it". So I'm going to be wearing a 34 CC bra to football games, fellas. Ima call it my sports bra.”

Desis called it a perfect mix-up story and felt bad for the woman who must be wondering how she is supposed to wear football stockings for support.
They also chipped in with hilarious suggestions or ‘jugaads’ on what he can do with it now that he is stuck with it, after the shopping website refused to return.

The thing about being a sexual assault victim  is that once something as appalling and traumatic as an assault happens with you, you go on to feel like a victim for the rest of your life.
That one incident goes on to etch itself in your memory forever, especially, if you were a kid when that happened. And just like that, before you know it, your innocence is lost forever.
I can say because, like hundreds and thousands of women my age, I have too, been a victim of sexual abuse.
As has been seasoned actress Neena Gupta, whose excerpt about getting molested when she was just a kid in her book - Sach Kahun Toh, has struck a chord with an upsettingly large number of women.
    View this post on Instagram
The book that was released in June this year took the readers on a journey through her life.

Filled with excerpts and anecdotes, the book was able to pen down everything that made Neena Gupta what she is today.
However, one such heartbreaking incident that was also mentioned in her book, and now going viral, is when Neena Gupta got molested at the tender age of 15.
She narrated the incident in her book by writing, “One time I visited a doctor for an eye infection. My brother, who was accompanying me, was asked to sit in the waiting room. The doctor started with examining my eye and then went down to check out other areas that were unconnected with my eye. I was scared stiff while it was happening and felt disgusted all the way home. I sat in a corner in the house and cried my eyes out when nobody was looking.”
    View this post on Instagram
The fear, the trauma of a young teenager having just been exploited by her doctor no less, was perhaps not the worst part about it after all. Because what came next, broke our hearts even more.

Neena went on to share, “I didn't dare tell my mother about this because I was so scared that she would say that it was my fault. That I had probably said or done something to provoke him. This happened to me many times at the doctor's."
    © Neena Gupta
Thanks to the society that has always managed to blame the victim in such cases by looking down upon them and not supporting them through these moments, girls as young as 15-year-old Neena, continue to get exploited out of fear of bringing shame to the family or being blamed.

Makes us wonder if only the doctor should be blamed here or the entire society, that has systematically established fear in the hearts of a sexual assault victim, doesn’t it?
    © Neena Gupta
Neena Gupta, who was a victim of such abuse by even her tailor, further shared, “If I told my mom I didn't want to go to them, she would ask me why and I would have to tell her. I didn't want this because I felt very scared and ashamed of what had been done to me. I wasn't the only one. Many girls in those days who suffered abuse chose to keep quiet rather than tell their parents about it... We didn't dare complain to our parents because that would mean that the little freedom we had would be taken away."

It was only when she grew up and opened up about her experiences that she realised several other women had been through it too.
Today, Neena Gupta is a successful and one of the most unabashed actors in the industry with hits like Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Mulk and many more.

India began its T20 World Cup preparations with an impressive seven-wicket win over one of the tournament favourites England at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. Despite the pitch being on the slower side, the match turned out to be a high-scoring affair, with 380 runs scored across both innings.
The 50-over world champions posted a huge total of 188/5 in their stipulated 20 overs, which India chased down with ease with six balls to spare, thanks to blistering fifties from openers KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.
    © Twitter BCCI
While the results went India’s way, it was not all glittery for Virat Kohli’s men, especially India’s senior-most fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was taken to the cleaners by the England batters in the death overs.

Despite all of that, it was heartening to see India play fearless cricket in the second innings and pushed English bowlers on the backfoot right from the start, not allowing them to settle in the game.
From India’s point of view, the biggest takeaway from the game was the opening partnership between Rahul and Kishan as it laid the foundation for other batters to come in and express themselves freely.
Not just the opening stand, there were several other boxes that India ticked and we take a look at key lessons that we learnt from India’s impressive win over England.

Before the tournament, there were talks in some quarters that Virat Kohli might open the innings with Rohit Sharma but he quashed all the speculations at the toss, announcing that he will bat at number three in the tournament.
“Things were different before IPL, now it's difficult to look beyond KL Rahul at the top of the order. Rohit is a no-brainer. World-class player, he's been solid up front. I will be batting at 3. That's the only news I can give to start off,” Kohli said after winning the toss.
Continuing his excellent IPL form, Rahul scored a blistering half-century, smashing 51 off just 24 balls at a crazy strike rate of 212.50. His powerful knock was studded with six fours and three hits over the fence.
Ishan Kishan - The Pocket Dynamo View this post on Instagram
The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter made the most of the opportunity and top-scored for the side scoring 70 runs off just 46 balls. If there were concerns over his form going into the tournament, he quashed all of them with his powerful knock.
Despite that, he might have to wait for his chance in the starting XI but he did increase the worries for the team management with his match-winning knock. Although he has been picked as a backup opener, we all know that he can bat anywhere in the middle-order and given his form it will be hard to keep him out of the playing XI.
Jasprit Bumrah - The ‘X’ Factor View this post on Instagram
Jasprit Bumrah might be the youngest of India’s all four front-line seamers but he has become a leader of the pace attack. While other two pacers Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar went for more than 10 runs an over, Bumrah kept things tight from his end and conceded only 26 runs in his spell, in addition to dismantling the timber of a set Jonny Bairstow with a searing yorker.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s Experience  View this post on Instagram
All eyes were on the veteran off-spinner who has returned to India’s limited-overs squad after a long absence. He didn’t pick any wickets but he did his job by stopping the run flow from one end. He was the most economical Indian bowler, giving away only 23 runs.
His performance proved that experience isn’t something that can be bought in a flea market and in a big tournament like this, more than skills it’s the ability to handle the pressure situation that determines which side of the result a team will end up in.
Despite that, his place in the starting line-up isn’t guaranteed as he’ll have to fight it out with Kolkata Knight Riders mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who missed the warm-up game alongside Rohit Sharma.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Form - A Big Concern © Instagram Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvi endured a disappointing IPL for SunRisers Hyderabad and going into the tournament, his form was a major cause of concern for Team India. While other players utilised the warm-up game to find their mojo back, the swing-specialist couldn’t impress in the warm-up game.

Kohli made him open the bowling and even tasked him with bowling the final over of the innings but he looked short on confidence, no matter at which stage he was bowling. Leaking 54 runs in his four-over spell, he was India’s most expensive bowler on the night.
One more failure in the next warm-up game against Australia could even mean he misses out on a place in the starting lineup against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24.

The youngest bowler in India’s squad Rahul Chahar was included in the T20 World Cup squad in place of experienced Yuzvendra Chahal but he couldn’t do complete justice to the faith shown in him by the selectors and the team management.

He was coming off a tough IPL season and it reflected in his performance. To be fair, he did trouble the English batters with his variations but he lacked consistency and gave away cheap boundaries.
The team management would want to give him one more chance in the next warm-up fixture against Australia to see if he deserves to start against Pakistan or not.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya didn’t do much in the game. Many expected him to start bowling in the warm-up games but clearly he isn’t fit enough to start bowling yet. The Mumbai Indians star wasn’t called in to bowl and he didn’t do much with the bat either, with his only accomplishment being he remained not out at the end.

During his short stay at the crease, he struggled to time the ball and find the gaps. Barring one shot that he put in the gap on the off side, his timing was awful but luckily Rishab Pant was at the other end and he finished the job with a massive six in the 19th over.
