Now, as a writer, if I were to ever say that I don’t read my own work after writing it, my editor would probably call me in for a meeting and ask me to pack up.
Simply because for someone who earns her bread and butter through writing, I cannot afford to not read it and learn from my mistakes.

However, the same doesn’t apply to Bollywood and some of its most renowned stars, apparently, are known for not watching their own films after they get released.
One would think that with the ‘superficial’ reputation that the industry has earned, stars would be too obsessed with themselves to not want to see themselves on the screen, but turns out, a lot of them prefer to simply act and not look back.
Here are a few of them:
1. Kareena Kapoor Khan © Shree Ashtavinayak Cne Vision Limited
Turns out, Bebo likes to steer clear of watching herself on the big screen after her movie has finally been made.
And seems like she is not the only one, her husband Saif Ali Khan also actively avoids watching himself in his films after release.
2. Boman Irani © Vinod chopra films
The iconic and veteran actor who has given us hits like Don and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S admitted to not seeing his movies.
In an interview, he shared, “I don’t watch my films because I can’t see myself on screen. I am very critical about myself."
Can’t say we don’t relate with him, self doubt gets us all!
3. Shah Rukh Khan © Yash Raj Films
The king of Bollywood himself is also on the list and prefers not to watch his own work.
He is of the belief that, “We have people within the team whose job it is to look at the film objectively and suggest changes, but for me, my film is like my baby. If I think my daughter will be ‘X’ and she grows up to be ‘Y’, she’ll still be my daughter… she’ll always be beautiful to me. That’s the reason why I don’t watch my films… I never see a complete film of mine… I watch it in bits and parts."
4. Imran Khan © Aamir Khan Productions
The chocolate boy of Bollywood who floored us with his performance in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, also doesn’t like watching his work.
He says, “I don’t watch my films. I watched Jaane Tu… a year after its release. Whenever I watch my films, I always feel that something could have been different; some scenes could be more perfect, and so on. So I avoid watching my films."
5. Shahid Kapoor © T-Series
The Kabir Singh actor is rather selective about the films he does and doesn’t watch.
One of the more self-aware actors, Shahid likes to hold back from watching his films that he thinks didn’t work well for him.
He shared, “There are some films of my own I won't waste time watching as they don't do it for me. Sometimes, I watch a film and realise it wasn't the kind of film I would go to the theatre for."
Well, damn!

Touted as this great and tragic love story, built on the premise of the infamous ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Devdas has always been hailed in great spirits, especially after it became the official film to give India a ticket to the Oscars.
© Mega Bollywood
However, years after its release, today, when I look back at the film, I realise how it was nothing but a glorified mess made out of alcoholism, casteism and misogyny.
© Mega Bollywood
The movie starts with a mini-marathon in the house of the Mukherjee's, a well-known name and family in the city during the 1900s.
Kaushalya (Devdas’ mom) goes nearly berserk after receiving the news of her son Devdas returning from London after 10 years and studying law. Everyone in the family is jumping at his return, which will be ironic considering what will follow when he actually does make it back.
via GIPHY
As the news travels to their neighbouring house, we are introduced to the family of Paro (Devdas’s childhood friend, lover and a girl from a lower caste, because that holds prime relevance to the plot).
© Mega Bollywood
She is head over heels in love with Dev and keeps the fire between them alive by literally lighting a diya and never letting it get blown out.
© Mega Bollywood
It is revealed that Dev and Paro had kept in touch through a total of 5 letters in 10 years.
Dev is shown to be a rather possessive, arrogant and psycho kind of lover who will squash even a fly if dares touch Paro.
Paro, on the other hand, is getting consumed in his OTT dialogues and toxic love.
via GIPHY
Paro’s mother Sumitra, along with everyone else, assumes that Dev and Paro will get married but when she actually takes the proposal to Kaushalya, she is turned down publicly and humiliated.
© Mega Bollywood
Sumitra, who looks like she channels her inner Delhiite, responds savagely and bets on getting her daughter Paro married to a family richer than that of the effing Mukherjee’s.
© Mega Bollywood
In the meantime, Kumud (Kaushalya’s scheming sister in law) is all set to manipulate the family against Dev so she and her husband can get the keys to the inheritance. And because Kaushalya is so drunk on her status and protecting her ego more than her son, she is easy to be taken advantage of.
via GIPHY
Sumitra, on the other hand, doesn’t waste a second and soon gets Paro married off to a forty-year-old widower who is an aristocrat and much wealthier than the Mukherjee's.
© Mega Bollywood
Devdas, who is heartbroken, but not enough to do much about it, stands back after he gets reprimanded by even his dad to try and bring Paro home. What an effort.
© Mega Bollywood
He then leaves town after Paro’s wedding, but not after hitting Paro in the face with a necklace to give her a scar. I mean...
What we also wonder is that if he had planned on skipping town anyway, why couldn’t he have done it with Paro instead of a bottle of whiskey? That selfish son of a...
via GIPHY
He lands up drunk at a brothel and comes across Chandramukhi, a beautiful courtesan who falls in love with the drunkard that Devdas has become. After a few nights, Devdas realises how big of di*k he had been to let go of Paro and tries to convince her to come with him.
© Mega Bollywood
Paro, who obviously realised her worth, didn’t give two shits about his proposal and turned him down. You go, gurl!
© Mega Bollywood
Even though Paro puts up a strong front in front of Dev, in reality, her married life isn’t all too great. She realises that her husband is still in love with his late wife and his children are not ready to accept her as their new mother.
via GIPHY
Devdas, on the other hand, moves permanently in with Chandramukhi, treating her poorly and taking her love for granted, because that is what makes him a man.
© Mega Bollywood
He doesn't miss a chance to belittle her every time with dialogues like, “Aurat maa hoti hai, behen hoti hai, patni hoti hai, dost hoti hai. Aue jab woh kuch nahi hoti, toh tawaif hoti hai.” Way to go for a man who can’t stand still in even one frame and lives at the mercy of this very tawaif he looks down upon.
© Mega Bollywood
When news of Devdas’s dad on his deathbed reaches Dev, he arrives a little too late. His dad passes on and he passes out, not before creating a scene and lighting his study on fire.
© Mega Bollywood
He is once again banished from the house and asked to f*ck off.
© Mega Bollywood
Paro, who is still making peace with the fact that Dev already has a new woman by his side, goes over to meet Chandramukhi and gets into a dissing match with her. They end in a tie and Paro invites Chandramukhi to a celebration at her place.
© Mega Bollywood
Paro’s horny son-in-law tries to harass Chandramukhi, whose brothel he visits often but ends up getting schooled by both Paro and Chadramukhi. However, Paro is soon banished from leaving the house ever again because she dared to associate with someone from a brothel.
© Mega Bollywood
The messed up casteism in the movie and the misogyny of how it was okay for a man to visit and participate in affairs at a brothel, but a woman simply visiting was forbidden, making you lose your mind.
© Mega Bollywood
Cut to Devdas who is barely holding on to his life and has drowned himself in a pool of liquor. His alcoholism by this point has ruined his own life, Paro’s and Chandramukhi’s.
© Mega Bollywood
Despite knowing how even one single drop can result in his ill-fated death, Devdas has another drink and travels to Paro’s house to see her one last time.
via GIPHY
He reaches, somehow, but collapses right in front of her gate. Paro, even though runs a marathon in a burning saree in her house, doesn’t make it to the gate in time and is also held back by her husband’s guards.
© Mega Bollywood
Devdas takes Paro’s name from his mouth one last time and dies, as Paro’s diya also flickers out.
The End.

Aryan Khan has been in NCB's custody since five days now, after he was caught in connection with a drug bust aboard the Goa-bound cruise ship alongside seven others.
© BCCL
In this time, there have been plenty of things that have been said about SRK's eldest son, with the whole controversy clearly affecting the who's who of the film industry. So far as things stand, he will continue to remain under NCB custody till October 7.
With new developments in the case every day, a certain video of the cruise ship has now surfaced on the internet and has gone viral. In the video, hundreds of people can be seen dancing and chilling with other people in what was a ‘Namascray’ party that had been organized by a Delhi event agency.
View this post on Instagram
As per the video, it looks just like any other party with a lot of people really enjoying themselves and no one can actually say that anything menacing seems to have been happening there. Now, having seen the video, people are completely questioning the entire idea of blaming Aryan Khan for the whole thing.
I mean, there are literally hundreds out there but just the youngster's name has been in the news. Let's take a look at what people are saying.
© Instagram
"Y only aryann....y not all the ppl present dere....???" said an Instagram user.
© Instagram
Another user commented as to how every guilty party should be to blame, not just one celebrity.
"They should detain everyone, not blacklist a celebrity," said Jayashree.
© Instagram
"It seems this is pre-planned and they targeted only Aryan." said another user.
© Instagram
Someone even pointed a finger at how nothing is currently being done in the case of Gautam Adani.
"Why media silent on Gautam Adani.. On 3000 kg cocaine detained in Adani's Mundra port in Gujarat..?"
No matter where you are on this, one thing cannot be denied. People love talking about Bollywood and if there are any controversies, Bollywood celebrities, and their families are the first people that are thrown under the bus.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas often take to their Instagram profiles and share some adorable pictures together. But, even if they post solo pictures, they are often seen appreciating each other in the comments section.
The couple got married in 2018 and have been going strong ever since.
Despite facing disapprobation, they tackled every obstacle that came in their way and proved that no stereotype could wreck their relationship.
© Instagram/Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka recently spoke in a new podcast and opened up about how she and Nick Jonas respect each other's cultures and traditions.
We witnessed it at the time of their wedding when the couple followed both Hindu as well as Christian customs.
The Christian wedding was performed by Nick's father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr.
© Instagram/Priyanka Chopra
Apart from that, she also said Nick often asks Priyanka to do Puja before any significant event in their lives.
© Instagram/Priyanka Chopra
Speaking during Victoria’s Secret’s VS Voices podcast, Priyanka mentioned that they both have different faiths. However, on spiritual grounds, they are on the same frequency.
“Spiritually, Nick and I align when it comes to our feelings and our relationship with our faith. Of course, we have been raised with different faiths. I am a believer that eventually, religion is a map to get to the same destination, which is God. So, whatever your faith has been when you were raised, we are all going in the same direction to a higher power. We both align on that."
© Instagram/Priyanka Chopra
She further added, "I do a lot of pujas in the house which are prayer ceremonies. Nick usually asks me to do them whenever we are starting something big because that is how I have always started something auspicious in my life, with a prayer of thanks. I have had that upbringing and he has had that upbringing and we have sort of created that within our family as well."

Priyanka is currently shooting for her next project, Citadel, starring Richard Madden and produced by the Russo brothers.
Apart from that, she will also be seen in The Matrix: Resurrections and Text For You. She will also make her Bollywood comeback with Jee Le Zaraa.

After losing to defending champions Mumbai Indians, Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals have been all but knocked out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
With just ten points in their kitty, and only one match left, Rajasthan are languishing at the seventh spot on the IPL 2021 Points Table. Their net run rate took a massive hit in their last game and now, only a miracle could see them make it to the knockout stage.
pic.twitter.com/96QGABmc9w
— Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) October 5, 2021
They resumed the second leg in a much better position and they have only themselves to blame for their sorry state. The franchise that won the first-ever IPL trophy has been mediocre since then, never reaching the final ever again.
© Twitter/Shivam Dube
After yet another disappointing season, former England captain and cricket expert Michael Vaughan has taken a dig at the franchise and its owners saying they are “brilliant at talking” but are terrible at managing the team.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Vaughan blamed the franchise owners for giving others lectures about how to manage a franchise when they themselves have failed to do that.
Glad we entertained the Abu Dhabi crowd, @ChennaiIPL.
See you again this season, hopefully. #RRvCSK | #HallaBol | #RoyalsFamily | @msdhoni pic.twitter.com/74KE8MHceg
— Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) October 2, 2021
RR owner Manoj Badle and English journalist Simon Hughes have co-authored a book named ‘A New Innings’ where they have explained how the IPL works and shared tips on how to efficiently manage a sports team.
© Twitter/IPL
Vaughan found it funny that the owner of the franchise who has himself failed to build a successful team is telling the whole world how to do that.
Rr hAs tHE leAst fAnS pic.twitter.com/fLSKiVmxXE
— Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) October 7, 2021 “Rajasthan always makes me laugh. They are the one team that's talk about 'Moneyball' more than anyone. They have written a book! I mean I know a lot about them because they have written a book with Simon Hughes... you know, how the IPL works and running a franchise, it's a great read but you kind of look at the book and think 'This is a great read but you haven't won since the first year but how are you telling everyone how to do it?” Vaughan said in a Cricbuzz video.
What it means. pic.twitter.com/GLHeEdcPeT
— Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) October 2, 2021
“If it's so easy and so obvious how to run it and produce 'Moneyball', pick players and use data and stats, surely you should be more competitive! Surely you should win more games of cricket (chuckles). They're brilliant at talking but not very good at playing the game,” he added.
Looking at Rajasthan’s recent campaigns, it’s safe to say that they have failed terribly, finishing eighth and seventh in the previous two seasons. And as things stand right now, they should consider themselves lucky if they somehow manage to crawl out of the bottom two.
View this post on Instagram
From Jaydev Unadkat to Ben Stokes to Chris Morris, Rajasthan have always splashed huge amounts on signing players in the auction but they have never been able to get the best out of them.
For example, Shivam Dube was bought for Rs 4.40 crore at auction prior to this season but has only featured in four matches.
© Twitter/Shivam Dube
All this suggests that more than making smart picks the franchise enters the auction with a mindset of making headlines by splashing huge amounts on one or two marquee players.
Clearly, this strategy of theirs has failed big-time and unless they change it they are not going to achieve the success that they want.

The film industry is undoubtedly the most money-making industry once you make it big, of course.
Superstars not only enjoy crazy fame and stardom but also an envious bank balance. Most of the biggest actors in cinema charge a mad amount for the role in a movie.
© Instagram/Prabhas
The highest-paid male actors in the Hindi film industry (of course, they are all men, no need to specify) make up to Rs 80-100 crore per movie.
The Khans of Bollywood charge around a hundred crore per movie, while Khiladi Akshay Kumar earns around Rs 135 crore, becoming the highest-paid star.
© Instagram/Akshay Kumar
However, there is one Indian actor who has even surpassed the biggest Bollywood actors in terms of charging crazy fees for their work, and it is South superstar Prabhas.
The Baahubali star has reportedly asked for a whopping Rs 150 crore for his upcoming movie, Adipurush.
© Instagram/Prabhas
The film is an adaptation of the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ in which Prabhas will play Lord Ram. It stars Kriti Sanon and marks the debut of Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh in the South cinema.
While Kriti Sanon will play Sita, Sunny Singh will essay the role of Lakshman and Saif will be seen as Lankesh (Ravana). The film is slated for a release in August 2022.
© Instagram/Prabhas
Adipurush has already created a buzz among the Indian audience.
It is also speculated to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The bilingual movie (Hindi and Telugu) will be a 3D movie.
© Instagram/Prabhas
Prabhas rose to prominence pan-India after the Baahubali series where he played the titular role. He had charged Rs 100 crore for both instalments of the epic fantasy directed by SS Rajamouli.
© Instagram/Prabhas
He is one of the most sought after actors in South cinema and filmmakers feel the fee is quite justified for the actor to ask for. And, we agree.
"Prabhas is the only Indian actor who is in the position to command this kind of a remuneration today...since he is earning a lot more for his producers with each film,” a leading daily reported quoting a source.
