Just days after the Facebook services outage, India’s biggest telecom provider Reliance Jio was facing outages in the country. The Jio cellular network was down for many of the service's users and impacted several regions.Β
DownDectector showed high spikes for Reliance Jio throughout the day, however there are reports that some users are getting network services back on their mobile phones. The most notable area where Reliance Jio faced outage was in Madhya Pradesh and the surrounding areas. However, users from many parts of the country had been reporting since morning that they were unable to receive any signal on their Jio sim cards.

Several users took to Twitter to complain about their angst and #JioDown is still on top of the trending list on Twitter in India. As of today, a peak of 4,000 users reported network issuers earlier in the day with thousands of reports still coming in at the time of writing this story. Reports from other cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Indore and Raipur are also coming in according to DownDetector.Β

Due to the nature of the issue, many users also took to Twitter to share some hilarious memes. Some poked fun at the company while others mocked its competitors. Here’s how people reacted to the Reliance Jio outage today:

β€” Anveshka Das (@AnveshkaD) October 6, 2021Currently, it is not clear as to why Jio is malfunctioning in certain parts of the country. An explanation for the outage is expected soon and we will update the story once we know more. It is worth pointing out that JioFiber and Jio networks are functional in our part of the city, however it may not be the same for you. We suggest reaching out to Reliance Jio’s customer care on phone or on Twitter to get a real-time update on the situation.Β

Now that I think about the life I had before the pandemic took over our lives, it feels like dating myself back to an alternate reality that never really existed.Β
To imagine walking around without masks, hugging people without worrying for more than their body odour and travelling in public transportation piled one on top of the other, all seems surreal now that β€˜social distancing’ is the new normal.

    via GIPHY
And while in the past two years we’ve made peace with a lot of things, one that we still struggle with every now and then is working from home.Β

Don’t get me wrong, I love not having to scoot myself in a crowded metro to work every morning and not seeing the faces of some colleagues I detest, but at the same time, I miss the banter (and much more) too.
Here are 6 things I dearly miss about going to the office (and 3 that I never will):
    1. Office Wifi
    via GIPHY
With an impressive broadband speed that didn’t just support loading your 256 tabs at the same time but also allowed you to sneakily download that movie from torrent, office wifi is definitely the first thing on the list that I, along with several others, would miss.Β

After all, we had gotten used to the killer speed to refresh our Insta feeds every 5 seconds.Β
    2. 24*7 Air Conditioning Β© iStock
At the cost of sounding like a penny pincher, I will admit that sitting in the comfort of air conditioning all day long, not worrying about an overwhelming bill used to undoubtedly be the best part of the day for me.Β Β

Even days where we would just freeze ourselves to a standstill in the office would be far better than melting into a puddle of sweat at home.Β
    3. Office Gossip Β© iStock
A day wouldn’t feel complete without taking a break with your work-friends over coffee or maybe a chai and sutta and exchanging some good old gossip.Β

Call it a necessary evil but there would be something about the mindless banter that would simply make our days at work a lot easier.
    4. Having A Routine
    via GIPHY
Never thought I’d say this, but waking up just 5 minutes before my morning zoom meeting was fun for only a couple of weeks until I realised that my productivity and health both had considerably dropped in WFH.Β

    I miss having a work-life balance and not feeling like a zombie.Β
    5. Getting Dressed Β© iStock
After having spent the last two years of my life in my pyjamas and oversized t-shirts, it is safe to admit that I do miss getting ready each morning and wearing clothes that didn't have an elastic band.Β Β

Those formal wear I spent a fortune on, yearn to be dragged out of the closet and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss sporting them on.Β
    6) Good Posture Β© iStock
Believe it or not, but sitting and working from home has inevitably given us all a hunchback that is less than flattering, especially for those of us who are still in our 20s or 30s.Β

The office culture might otherwise have a lot of flaws but one space where it definitely did us a favour was by giving us a posture that kept our spines erect.
And now, for the things that I most definitely don’t miss and never would:
    1. Small Talk
    via GIPHY
Be it the awkward elevator talk or the small talk you feel forced to make with your colleague sitting next to you, one thing I don’t miss about office culture is putting on a fake smile and acting interested in people’s weekends, when all I can think about is how soon to end the conversation and go back to plugging my earphones in.
    2. Back-To-Back Meetings Β© iStock
Not that they don’t happen now, they do and for equally long hours but perhaps there is a big difference between having to attend endlessly long meetings in person as opposed to over zoom calls.Β

At least now, your bossΒ  can’t stare dead straight into your eyes while you hold back on that yawn, making questionable faces.Β
    3. Tiring Commute
    via GIPHY
Stuffing yourself in public transport every morning and making a tiring mess out of your freshly ironed clothes was never fun and often sucked the fun out of us even before we started on with our day.Β
Now that there is no need to wedge ourselves between strangers in a metro, I wish I never have to face the gruesome commute again.

Hardik Pandya’s lacklustre form has been a big cause of concern not just for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians but also the Indian cricket team. Barring one occasion, the all-rounder has failed to produce any match-winning performance in the ongoing edition of the IPL in the UAE.
What makes things worse is that he hasn’t bowled a single delivery this season and many experts feel he doesn’t deserve to be in India’s T20 World T20 Cup squad based only on his batting ability.
    Β© Instagram Hardik Pandya
While picking him in the 15-member squad T20 World Cup squad, chief selector Chetan Sharma had said that Hardik is ready to bowl his full quota of four overs in the tournament but considering how things have panned out one can’t see him resuming bowling anytime in the near future.

With less than two weeks left at the start of the multi-action event, the questions are being asked if the selectors made a huge mistake by relying too much on the MI all-rounder and entrusting him with a major responsibility of playing the role of a proper seamer.
    Β© Instagram Hardik Pandya
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has slammed the selectors for making an ill-informed choice and choosing a β€œone-format player” who, based on his current form, is just not good enough to be in India’s best playing XI.

β€œThe biggest upset in this batting lineup is Hardik Pandya. He hasn't played any cricket, he is just a one-format player for me now. He only plays white-ball cricket and hasn't delivered this year and he's got into the T20 World Cup side when he hasn't bowled either. So that's a huge surprise," Gautam Gambhir said on ESPNCricinfo.
    Β© Instagram Gautam Gambhir
The former KKR skipper who guided them to their two IPL titles blamed the selectors and demanded an explanation from them, explaining their rationale behind including Hardik in the side and leaving some of the most in-form players, including the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shreyas Iyer, out of the side.

β€œSelectors will probably have to answer this whether he's actually going to bowl four overs in the World Cup and if he decides to do that, does he have those overs under him? If he decides to bowl in the World Cup he has to start bowling from now on, Whether it's one or two overs per game so that he can... deliver during the World Cup where India will be looking to win.
    Β© Instagram Hardik Pandya
β€œBut if he doesn't bowl during the World Cup, then it's actually pretty difficult for me to put him into the playing XI. If he doesn't bowl I don't think he can be a part of India's best playing XI,” said Gambhir, lashing out at the poor selection.

Hardik has been out of action for the majority of the last two years as he was recuperating after he went under the knife to treat his lower back in 2019.Β
Barring the T20 series in Australia, where he won the Player of the Series award, Hardik’s return to international cricket has been way below expectations.
    Β© Instagram Hardik Pandya
He hasn’t started bowling at full tilt since his operation. The last time he bowled was during the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka.Β

When asked about when we can expect him to bowl, his franchise has very smartly dodged the bullet saying they are managing his workload, with an eye on the T20 World Cup. With only one league match left, expecting Hardik to come up with some sort of miracle would be really foolish.

The selectors, however, can still save their noses but they must hurry up as the clock is ticking very fast and they have only until October 10 to make amends to their mistake.

Vinod Khanna earned his place in the industry after his stellar performance in the movie Qurbani back in 1980. The film was offered to Big B, who had turned it down at the time, but this became a huge advantage for Vinod Khanna.Β
Apart from that, before his debut movie, he had also completed his studies. He earned a commerce degree from Sydenham College, but he decided to entertain on the silver screen despite being highly educated.

The actor was born on 6th October 1946. After he ventured into Bollywood, there was no going back for him as his work was loved by people and the critics too.Β

Vinod Khanna passed away in 2017 after struggling with cancer for years.Β

On his birth anniversary, we remember the time when he was bold and wouldn't shy away talking about taboo topics.Β
He once straightforwardly spoke about *** before moving away from the industry and went on a spiritual journey with Osho.

In an old video, he is seen smoking a cigarette and talks about ***, saying he needs it as much as anyone else does.Β
This old video has now resurfaced on the internet. He is heard saying, "Well, I was a bachelor and I am no saint as far as women are concerned. I need *** as much as anybody else does. Without women we won’t be here, without *** we won’t be here, so why should anybody object to my being with women.”

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra's contribution to the film industry can never be understated due to his status as being one of the most macho heroes ever seen onscreen.
    Β© Instagram
However, now that he has taken a backseat from films, the popularity of his sons, Sunny DeolΒ and Bobby Deol is unparalleled on many occasions.

While we know Sunny Deol ka 'Dhai Kilo Ka Haath', it looks like younger brother Bobby is now more well known with the younger audience. It is because of his films like Soldier, Bichhoo, Ajnabee, and others, but also due to his presence in the meme culture of India.

Bobby is a big name in the meme business, where he holds a status which is unlike that of anyone else. In fact, a whole page on Twitter, called Bobbywood, is dedicated to Bobby Deol memes.
Well, the latest gem to come out of Bobbywood is that Bobby Deol actually helped fix a global crisis just recently.
Remember the crazy Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook crashes that occurred just recently across the world? Mark Zuckerberg even lost a s*** ton of money during that period!
    Β© Twitter
It was reported that he could have lost out even more, had the servers not been fixed sooner.

And guess what? It was actually Bobby Deol who fixed the global social media crash. Apparently Bollywood's soldier spent the whole night trying to work on his computer from a remote location to help buddy Mark Zuckerberg fix what was the biggest social media crash in a while.
    Don't believe us?
    Check it out for yourself:

I mean, is there anything in the world that this man cannot do? Apparently, before this, Facebook had claimed that a bunch of their employees were trying to fix the configuration change to its routers that had seemingly caused the outage.Β
However, as per Bobbywood, which is said to be most reliable when it comes to pure Bobby Deol meme content, that wasn't the case. It was Bobby who helped the world reach out to their friends and families in time.
Some sources actually suggest that Facebook published the information about its employees fixing the issue after Bobby himself called up Mark to keep his name out of the news.Β
    Come on Bobby!Β
At a time when Bollywood is facing the heat because of the drug scandal surrounding Aryan Khan, the industry can really do with some positive PR.
Anyway, Bobby is a pure-hearted soul who'd do anything for you without you knowing about it. We just don't deserve him!Β

Facebook and all of its products including WhatsApp faced a major outage earlier this week, leaving many users stranded for several hours. Users who were reliant on Facebook’s services, could not communicate with their loved ones over WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. This led to many users finding alternatives to the messaging platform. Telegram, the most popular alternative to WhatsApp, gained over 70 million users during Facebook’s outage period.Β
    Β© Reuters
Telegram founder Pavel Durov claimed on his Telegram channel that 70 million people joined the platform in one day, however these numbers are yet to be verified by independent sources. β€œThe daily growth rate of Telegram exceeded the norm by an order of magnitude, and we welcomed over 70 million refugees from other platforms in one day,” Durov said in the broadcast message from his Telegram channel.

β€œI am proud of how our team handled the unprecedented growth because Telegram continued to work flawlessly for the vast majority of our users,” Durov added.Β
Despite the sudden influx of millions of users, Durov claimed that service worked β€œflawlessly” for most users but added that users in the Americas might face slower speeds. He said the slower speed was being caused due to the increased load on the messaging service.Β
Signal, an alternative to both WhatsApp and Telegram, also reported β€œmillions of new users” had joined the app.Β
    Β© Reuters
This is not the first time users flocked to Telegram from WhatsApp and other Facebook services. Earlier this year, WhatsApp tried to introduce a controversial privacy policy which led to a mass user migration to Telegram.Β

Did you move to a different messaging app during the Facebook and WhatsApp outage? Let us know in the comments how your experience was and whether having alternative messaging apps is useful.Β
