Virat Kohli’s struggle with the bat has continued for far too long now, especially in the ongoing England tour, and is out there for everyone to see. The Indian skipper has been going through perhaps the worst phase of his career as a batsman and is finding it difficult to score runs.
A player who has 70 centuries under his belt in international cricket hasn’t crossed the three-figure mark in over two years, with his century drought stretching over 52 innings.

The Indian talisman averages over 50 in all three formats and it speaks volumes of how dominant of a force he has been in world cricket for over a decade but his batting has seen a sharp decline in the last couple of years and it’s hard to overlook.

While the whole world is debating the reasons behind the Indian skipper’s lean patch, his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma still feels his student is “playing well since the beginning of the series” in England.
    © Twitter
“I feel he is playing well since the beginning of the series. Every batsman can get out, you know. England have done their homework, they are bowling in right areas, not giving him loose deliveries," Sharma told IANS as quoted by News18.com.

The flaws in Kohli’s batting techniques have been quite evident. He has got out chasing the ball outside off stump in all five innings in the ongoing series so far. These were the deliveries that wouldn’t have done any harm had he shouldered his arms and left them for the wicket-keeper but led to his own downfall by poking his bat.
Despite all this, Sharma feels that his ward has been “decisive” in his shot-selection and more than his mistakes, one must credit England bowlers for sticking to their game plan and bowling consistent line and lengths.
    © Reuters
“He has been decisive, especially in the last innings, about which balls to play, which not to. A batsman gets out only when he makes mistake. Credit to England on their consistency,” said Sharma, head coach of Delhi men’s team.

“You have to ensure you don’t chase the ball outside the off-stump. But I have to credit the England bowlers a lot, especially Anderson. What a great bowler he is. He is able to bowl in one particular area for a long time. There is no short ball to cut or half volley to drive. He is consistent and understands the conditions well. He has the art to swing the late. His quality is great,” he added.

The 32-year-old batsman who learned cricket skills from Sharma growing up hasn’t stuck to the basics of the game in the ongoing series and it has cost him and Team India dearly. In Kohli’s own words, a batsman needs to keep his ego inside his pocket to succeed in England but he hasn’t followed his own advice.

It’s understood that Sharma doesn’t want to be overly critical of his student but saying that he has 'done well' in the series since the beginning, when he clearly hasn’t, is simply ludicrous.

Kaun Banega Crorepati or KBC is one Indian game show that has over the last two decades become a part of the country's very tradition. No matter who you are, what your caste, creed, social status is, people just love watching Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan come up from behind the backstage on the iconic background music of the game show to host it.
    © Sony Entertainment Television
Well, KBC has premiered again this year and like always, there hasn't been a dearth of people wanting to sit on the hot seat opposite Big B in order to win big sums of money. Deshbandhu Pandey, a man hailing from Kota in Rajasthan was one such contestant who also had his eyes on the prize.

    © Sony Entertainment Television
Not only did he qualify towards the hot seat by winning the Fastest Fingers First round, but he also ended up doing pretty decent until at least the 11th question of the game show.

While the entire crowd was rooting for him to go further, Deshbandhu got stuck on the question which was - "Which country falls entirely into Europe?" The correct answer for the question was Ukraine, but unfortunately, Deshbandu had to cut short his stay on the hot seat and in turn decided to walk away with Rs 3,40,000 and a big opportunity of meeting Amitabh in person.
    View this post on Instagram
Well, like everyone watching on the TV, we thought all had ended well for him and he would probably be thinking about what to do with the prize money. However, there was a twist in the tale that was waiting for him.
Soon after his exploits, Deshbandhu received a legal notice from Indian Railways, the organization that employs him. Why?
Well, apparently, upon knowing that he had been selected for the show, Deshbandhu had applied for leaves from August 9-13 in order to attend the show. However, while he was at the show, it was found out that his leave application was not considered by the organization.
Instead, when the railway administration found out about his appearance on the show, they ended up slapping a legal charge sheet against him.
    Quite unfair, to be honest!
So far, the administration has not published any statement regarding the matter but that hasn't stopped the Worker's Union from staging a protest against the unfair charge against Deshbandhu. Well, whatever happens, we really hope the charges are dropped against Deshbandhu.

Not everyone can crack people up merely with their expressions. There are only a few actors in Bollywood who have impeccable comic timing and a knack for making anything and everything funny.
Well, there’s Govinda and Johnny Lever who ruled the 90s and then there is Rajpal Yadav, who took over the comic scenes in most films in the 2000s.
    © Instagram/Rajpal Yadav
Be it Chota Pandit in Bhool Bhulaiya or Bandya in Chup Chup Ke, some of the most hilarious scenes in Bollywood can be credited to Rajpal Yadav’s characters.

    © UTV Motion Pictures
However, the actor is too humble to admit he is any good.

He recently talked about his journey in Bollywood. He said he came to Mumbai in 1997 and “left no stone unturned”.
“I believe that I am the luckiest actor in Bollywood. I have been working for the last three decades, starting from my school where I used to participate in plays and even dance at weddings. No matter whose wedding it was, I used to close the doors to my house and dance to the music they were playing,” he said.
    © Instagram/Rajpal Yadav
He knocked on the doors of the biggest directors and production houses but it was Ram Gopal Varma who saw the potential in him.

“I have done about 17 films with Ram Gopal Varma. Only RGV was brave enough to offer me a lead role in Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon.
    © Varma Corporation
Not just comedy, he has done a few negative roles too, for which he even won an award. He says the role helped him break out of the image of the ‘funny guy’ for him for the audience.

“The role he gave me in Jungle changed my image in the eyes of the audience. The year when Hrithik Roshan got the Best Actor award for Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, I received an award for Best Performance in a Negative Role,” he said.
    © Varma Corporation
Even after the success he got in Bollywood, he didn’t let the success get to his head. He remains as humble as he could. In fact, he doesn’t even consider himself a hero. He says he is a ‘zero’ compared to real heroes who are window cleaners and people who carve roads through the mountains.

    © T-Series
“I have never called myself a ‘hero’ because I have seen real heroes in my life. Right from the person who cleans glass windows in tall buildings, to the one who has carved the perfect tunnel out of a mountain, to the genius Einstein–they all are the real heroes. I am just a ‘zero’ when I compare myself to them,” he said.

For us though, he will always be the king of comedy and the funniest man in Hindi cinema.

Food delivery platform Zomato is no stranger to controversy. In fact, its latest advertising campaign, featuring Bollywood actors, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif has landed in controversy after people were pissed as they didn’t like the concept of these advertisements. People felt that Zomato can spend a hefty amount to rope stars in for ads but don’t have enough to pay salaries to their delivery staff. They also felt how the makers turned a blind eye to the fact that the delivery personnel are overworked despite all the tough circumstances at their end.
In the ads, Hrithik and Katrina can be seen appreciating the efforts of the delivery guys who have reached their doorsteps on time despite the rains or any other situation. To express their gratitude, Hrithik is seen offering a selfie to the delivery man and in Katrina’s ad, she is obliging him with offering cake. But, in both the commercials, the delivery man leaves as they have to deliver the food to another customer. The campaign is named, ‘Har Customer Hai Star.’
    Here are both the commercials:

After being trolled for these ads, Zomato has clarified the intention behind the campaign. Zomato shared a long post on Twitter clarifying their stand.
The other side of the story... pic.twitter.com/hNRj6TpK1X
    — zomato (@zomato) August 30, 2021
    Here’s what the note states:

"On our latest TV ads featuring Hrithik and Katrina...We released new TV ads (featuring Hrithik and Katrina) a week ago and have been receiving mixed feedback about them.
Here's what some people are saying our TV ads highlight - Our ads are tone-deaf and we hired celebrities to divert the conversation around gig worker payouts and working conditions Our delivery partners don't even get a minute to themselves between orders and stay under extreme pressure come rain or shine We would rather spend $$ on celebrity ads than pay our delivery partners well.
Since there are always two sides to a story, we would love to present our point of view. These ads were conceptualized 6 months ago (long before any social media chatter around gig worker payouts/working conditions), and were shot 2 months ago. We shot these ads with the following goals in mind.
Make delivery partners the hero of the ad Highlight that we should talk respectfully to delivery partners (like Hrithik and Katrina do in the ad, and very few other people do) Raise the level of dignity associated with a delivery partner's job Demonstrate the pride which most of our delivery partners serve our customers with Last but not the least, reiterate that every customer is a star for us and no less than Hrithik or Katrina
We believe that our ads are well-intentioned, but were unfortunately misinterpreted by some people. Having said that, we have been intently listening to all the chatter about gig workers and all the problems associated with this part of the economy. As a company, we have always acknowledged whenever we've come short, and we understand that you expect more and better from us.
As we shared in our quarterly shareholder letter before, we've been actively working on this already, and our delivery partner Net Promoter Score (NPS) has increased from -10% to 28% (and continues to rise). We will also, very soon, publish a blog post explaining why we think our delivery partners are fairly compensated for the work/time that they put in.
We thank everyone for pushing us to do better and we urge you to continue keeping us on our toes. We won't shirk away from our responsibility."
People even bashed them for their statements too. They think this is completely bogus.
    Here’s what they are saying:

Actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor recently revealed that he was asked to ‘sound dumb’ in his interviews by film producers. He also recalled that after his debut film Mirzya, he always kept his guard up a little bit but before that he was always transparent and very honest.
Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is the son of actor Anil Kapoor and made his acting debut with the film Mirzya in 2016. The film was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and also starred Saiyami Kher.
    View this post on Instagram
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Harsh Varrdhan said, "After Mirzya, I feel I always had my guard up a little bit. I was very open to talk and transparent and be very honest and sit down and have a normal chat. But after Mirzya I realized that I have to be a little conscious to what I say. When I sit down for an interview, I like to be honest but it’s up to the person on the other end of the interview to be able to say that ‘this guy is being honest and coming from a good place, he is confiding in me, so I also need to take care of him.”
    View this post on Instagram
He added, “Also, it was the fact that I was doing off-beat cinema. People have so much love for Anil Kapoor, that they have expectations that you have to be a certain way. As soon as you are different and embrace that individuality, it’s not going to be accepted right away. It would be naive to think that. Some producers told me that I need to sound dumb in my interviews. They told me that I come across as too intelligent and I am going to alienate the audience."
Harsh Varrdhan was also recently seen in the Netflix anthology series, Ray. He played the role of a self-involved film star named Vik. It also featured Radhika Madan and Chandan Roy Sanyal.

On the auspicious day of Janmastami on Monday, the UP government spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that meat and liquor trade will be banned in Mathura. The decision has been taken in tow with the requests made by people of the Braj region who want to keep the Braj area free of meat and liquor.

After the announcement was made official, a full debate has been stirred up on social media. Some people are concerned that meat is an essential food item for a lot of people in that area so the choices of consumption will obviously be affected.
Muslims are around 18% of Mathura’s population, and Dalits 20%. In other words at least around 40% of the population there eats meat. There are also meat eaters among other caste groups.

How can Yogi attack their right to eat the food of their choice?https://t.co/BdicMEavFg

Tesla Inc. is now a step closer to making its debut in India as the company received approval for four models in the country. The company has got the approval to manufacture or import four models of vehicles that are certified as roadworthy in the country.

According to a posting on the Ministry of Road Transport website, the vehicles received approval today. "The tests ensure the vehicle matches the requirements of the Indian market in terms of emission and safety and roadworthiness," according to the site. The approval was first noticed by a Tesla fan club on Twitter and said that the approvals were probably for the Model 3 and Model Y variants.

“Tesla has completed homologation and received approval for 4 of its vehicle variants in India. While we don’t have any confirmation on names as yet, these are probably Model 3 and Model 4 variants,” Tesla Fan Club India tweeted.

To put things into perspective, every car manufacturer in the country needs to get their vehicles certified locally before an official launch. Tesla set up a company based in India last year, i.e. Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt. Ltd. The company registration marked Tesla’s entry into the country for manufacturing and selling electric cars in the country. Having said that, the company might find it difficult to grow in the initial years as EVs only account for 1% of the Indian car market.

It is worth pointing out that even though the company has received approval from the Indian regulators, it does not mean the company can immediately launch the car. However, it does mean that the company is a step closer to launching or manufacturing four Tesla models in the country.
    © charlie-deets-unsplash
Elon Musk has been requesting a cut in the import duty on electric vehicles and related parts since Tesla is looking to fully import some of its vehicles in the initial stages before starting production in the country. Musk said previously that a factory in India is “quite likely” if the electric vehicle company can first test waters with imported vehicles.

India imposes some of the highest import duty rates in the world where a fully built car can attract a tariff of up to 100%. Cars that are assembled locally from imported parts attract a far lower tax.

Virat Kohli’s poor form in the ongoing Test series against England has been a huge cause of concern for the Indian Cricket Team.
The Indian skipper has only managed to score 124 runs from five innings of the first three Tests at a dismal average of 24.80, which is way below his career average of 51.40.
With Kohli not firing with the bat and Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane also struggling for consistency, India’s middle-order has failed to capitalise on the solid starts provided by the two openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, leaving the batting unit exposed against a quality bowling attack led by James Anderson.
    © Reuters
What’s more worrying is the manner in which Kohli is losing his wicket, playing away from his body reaching out for deliveries moving away from him. Most Indian supporters are familiar with this pattern of dismissal.

When Kohli toured England in 2014, he failed miserably with the bat, getting out in a similar fashion throughout the series.
The ghosts of 2014 have come back to haunt the 32-year-old modern-day great and his lean patch has extended for far too long. From fans to cricket pundits around the world, everyone is coming up with their own reasons to explain behind Kohli’s troubled period.
    View this post on Instagram
However, sometimes, some of the explanations are hard to comprehend and it leaves fans more confused than before. The same thing happened with former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan’s reasoning, who has attributed Kohli’s “aggressive thinking”  as the reason behind his failure.
Pathan, who shared the dressing room with Kohli, explained that the Indian skipper, instead of trying to play cautiously, is trying to dominate the English fast bowlers and that is what’s forcing him to reach out for deliveries bowled outside off-stump.
    Here’s the video:

“I feel more than the preparation, Virat Kohli looking to dominate is forcing him to play deliveries outside off-stump. It is just that small thing. More than technical, Virat Kohli's aggressive thinking is causing him problems,” Pathan told Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
Indian women’s cricket team legend Anjum Chopra was also part of the conversation and she feels the Indian talisman has set such a high standard for himself that it is becoming hard for him to meet his own expectations.
    © Reuters
The former Indian women’s team captain thinks that Kohli must “slightly lower his standard” in order to relieve himself of the excessive burden on his shoulders and only then will he be able to play freely and score runs.

“He also knows that he has to score runs. But the thing about error-free batting, that he will make a statement is putting more weight on his shoulders and maybe not allowing him to move freely. I feel he needs to bring his standard slightly lower than the error-free batting he is trying to do,” Anjum explained.
    © Reuters
For a player who thrives on his aggression, suggesting him to let go of his “aggressive thinking” and “lower his standard” in order to succeed is crazy beyond imagination.

Having ruled the world of cricket for over a decade, the Delhi-born cricketer knows his mistakes and one thing we know for sure is that champion players like him always bounce back.

In a recent interview, Jackie Shroff (Tiger Shroff’s dad) opened up about their new apartment and said, “Tiger dreamed of buying a house for his mother ever since he joined films. He elaborated saying, “Three goddesses have brought him up as I was always away for work. Whenever I returned, I used to pamper him. I’m glad I couldn’t spoil him. He’s on a different plane altogether, the way he is disciplined towards his craft and fitness. I don’t do serious talk about work with him. Whenever we meet, I treat him just like any other parent. We talk like friends. I just keep admiring his work and thank God and his fans for making him what he is today.”
