There aren’t many sports that have received as much coverage in films as Boxing has. Hollywood has long used the combat sport as a conduit for filmmakers to create a universe where ordinary protagonists overcome their struggles to come out on top.
The use of boxing as a metaphor in Bollywood films is quite common. And most of the movies in this list try to emulate that formula. Each actor who gets to essay the role tries to do justice to it, but some forget that boxing is as much a mental game as it is physical. There is a difference between a street brawler and someone who practices combat sports like boxing. And only a few actors are able to make that distinction.
So, we’ve gone ahead and ranked 8 of the most popular bollywood actors who have played boxers on the silver screen,Β  from worst to best (Rank 1 being the worst):
    Β© Vijayta Films
    1. Sunny Deol in ApneTypically over the top, Sunny Deol as Angad Choudhary lets his punches do the talking in Apne. This combination could have worked in his favour, considering his machismo appeal amongst his audience. However, we can’t help but feel that Sunny paaji reduces the combat sport to a mere battle of the jabs.

    2. Bobby Deol in ApneBobby Deol looks fit for the character of Karan Choudhary, but the melodramatic fighting sequences don’t accurately depict the world of boxing. Apne is a decent film about familial love, but it relies too heavily on tropes and less on the sport of boxing, as does Bobby Deol’s character.

    3. Priyanka Chopra in Mary KomThe movie is decent, with Priyanka Chopra doing justice to her character as a boxer. However, her controversial casting as Mary Kom doesn’t let us take it as seriously as we would have liked to. If only it wasn’t aΒ  biopic on the legendary Indian boxer, Piggy Chops may have ranked higher.Β

    4. Aamir Khan in GhulamBack in 1998, Bollywood was still experimenting with various genres albeit in an over dramatized ways. Ghulam had Aamir KhanΒ packing the punches as an amaetur boxer turned local ruffian before his conscience gets ignited and he takes on the big baddie. Fun internet fact: Aamir Khan didn’t bathe for 12 days in order to preserve the accuracy and consistency of the climax scene which was also shot over the same time.Β

    5. Mithun Chakraborty in BoxerIt’s probably unfair to rank a movie released in 1984 against contemporary releases, but Mithun Chakraborty’s Boxer has to be credited as one of the earliest films to depict the world of boxing on the silver screen for Indian audiences.Β

    6. Farhan Akhtar in ToofanApart from another epic physical transformation, Farhan Akhtar’s stint as Aziz in ToofanΒ got a lot right with regards to the combat sport, but the bouts still felt predictable. It’s a well made film about boxing, but there are better ones out there.Β

    7. Ritika Singh in Saala Khadoos

Newcomer Ritika Singh channeled her college experience as a pro boxer for this underdog story, where R. Madhavan spots an unlikely boxing champion in a feisty fish seller. Ritika’s Madhi venom packed punches are extremely satisfying as she fights her way to the top.Β

    8. Vinit Kumar Singh in Mukkabaaz

Mukkabaaz doesn’t bother with all the frills and fluff of Bollywood film making. Its secret sauce is the simplicity with which it shows the life of a boxer. The punches aren’t withdrawn, sparring isn’t over glamourized, the tension is palpable. Vinit Kumar Singh did a great job getting into his character. No other Bollywood movie has depicted the combat sport as accurately as Mukkabaaz does.Β Β

Guess what your body cannot produceβ€”vitamin B12.

Now guess why you need itβ€”to keep your nerves and DNA healthy and for the formation of red blood cells.Β
That’s a pretty big job for any vitamin and B12 is up for the challenge.Β
You need to consume vitamin B12 on a regular basis because your body doesn’t store vitamin B12 for a long time either.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to serious health consequences, such as anaemia. And consuming enough vitamin B2 can benefit your body in impressive ways, such as improved memory, better mood, energy boost and reduced risk of heart diseases.Β
Animal products like meats, dairy and eggs are good sources of vitamin B12. But plant-based foods don’t naturally contain B12, so vegetarians and vegans usually rely on supplements.Β
Vitamin B12 is not a nutrient your body can afford to skip. If you’re not getting enough of itβ€”2.4 mcg per day as an adultβ€”your body might find it challenging to perform basic tasks like long walks as you age.Β
As a vegetarian, you can get enough vitamin B12 from the foods mentioned below. Vegans can also find some options here.
    1. Fortified FoodsFortified foods are a readily available source of vitamin B12 for vegetarians. Fortified breakfast cereals often contain 25% of DV per serving. This can be different for each brand. You can read the packaging to make sure your cereal includes B12. It’s also easy for your body to digest fortified foods.Β

Another fortified food, nutritional yeast is a go-to food for many vegetarians and vegans. It adds a cheese-like flavour to dishes like pasta, popcorns, sauces and salads.

One tablespoon of 100% fortified nutritional yeast can provide 2.4 mcg of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is light sensitive, so store your nutritional yeast in dark glass containers.Β
    3. SupplementsIn older people, supplementation of 25-100 mcg per day is recommended to maintain vitamin B12 levels. People with vitamin B12 deficiency need a daily dose of 300-10,000 mcg. However, some evidence suggests that the oral dose between 647-1,032 mcg daily has proven to be highly effective.Β Β
Consult your doctor before deciding on a daily dose.

Some mushrooms contain vitamin B12 but the levels are low. To fulfil your daily B12 intake, you might need to consume 50g of mushrooms.

While it is unlikely that you’ll be able to eat this quantity of mushrooms on a regular basis, you should consider making it a part of your diet along with other B12 sources.
    5. Nori Β© iStock
Nori, also known as purple laver or dried edible seaweed, is an algae product of east Asian countries. Yes, the one used in making sushi. According to a 2014 study, eating 4g of dried nori can help you meet your daily requirements for vitamin B12 intake.Β

    6. Whole Milk & Fortified Milk Β© iStock
Along with whole milk, which is rich in calcium, plant-based, fortified milk-substitutes are also a convenient source of vitamin B12β€”hemp, almond, soy, and oat milk. Double-check the label to confirm that your milk is fortified with B12.Β

    7. Swiss Cheese Β© iStock
Swiss cheese, Gjetost and Mozzarella contain higher concentrations of vitamin B12 while blue cheese, cheddar and romano contain a lower amount of B12.Β Β

The BottomlineVegetarians and vegans should be mindful of their vitamin B12 intake. Your body cannot make it but it is needed for the most basic functions. Discuss with your doctor if you need to but vitamin B12 deficiency is not something you should take lightly.Β

If you’ve been wanting to speed up your old iPhone’s performance, there is a trick you can use. In the past, Apple has got into trouble for throttling older iPhones in some countries. Now, a report from GizChinaΒ shows that you can indeed increase the performance of your old iPhone. To get a smoother experience, you can switch the region of your iPhone to France.Β
    Β© Unsplash/goran-ivos
In our testing, we found that older iPhones indeed perform better when switching the region to France. The reason why this happens is because Apple has been fined by France for reducing the frequency of the chipset. Due to the fine, Apple can no longer limit the performance of older iPhones in France.

Apple was fined by France’s competition watchdog and several states in the United States of America. Due to the controversial feature, Apple paid $113 million in a settlement.Β
Apple throttles older iPhones in order to conserve battery life especially if the battery has aged considerably. This reduction in performance in turn makes older iPhones even slower which was met with criticism from customers and even governments around the world.Β
    Β© Unsplash/serwin365
It was found that older iPhones running in the France region scored better in benchmark apps such as AnTuTu and Geekbench. It was also found that performance on iPads was also improved when you change the region to France.Β

However, it is worth pointing out that this method is only applicable on older iPhones. When switching the region on an iPhone 12, the benchmark scores remained the same and did not see any significant performance improvement.Β
How to change the region on an iPhone:1. Head to Settings and tap on your name/account.Β
    2. Head to the Media and Purchase Section.Β
    3. Click 'View Account '
    4. Tap in Change Country or Region
    5. Select FranceΒ
Once you’ve selected France, it’s worth pointing out that you will not be able to receive the latest updates that are meant for the country you are residing in.Β Β
