    Japan has a weird tradition of a ***** parade that takes place every year. Many Japanese women sit on a carved out phallic symbol for good luck and it is completely normal. It is named as the ‘Hodare Fertility Festival’ and is believed to bring good luck and fertility to the married couples.

    ‘Hodare’ means male genitals in English and the tradition dates back to the 17th century. A new wooden ***** is carved from a cedar tree every year and men carry it around town.

Vidya Balan’s next movie, ‘Begum Jaan’, also has the same theme in the background but the fight for independence of the human spirit is what it talks about.

    In a nation as obsessed with its film personalities as ours, the idea of personal space isn’t as commonly understood as you’d think, especially when it’s a woman in question.
    Vidya Balan who is known to have a friendly rapport with her fans lost her cool recently and for some very legit reasons.
    Vidya Balan was at the Kolkata airport with the producer and director of ‘Begum Jaan’, her upcoming film when a fan requested to click a selfie with her.

    As most celebrities would, Vidya Balan obliged her fan. According to a report by Spotboye, the moment Vidya Balan agreed to the fan’s demand of clicking a selfie with him, the man put her arm around her without even asking her.
    “Don’t”, she said sternly. “Please, don’t do that.” Her manager warned the fan too when he didn’t immediately take his hand off Vidya.
    During his second attempt to click a selfie with her, he put her arm around her once again, despite being asked not to, the moment she turned towards the camera.
    “What do you think you are doing? This is wrong.” Vidya Balan confronted him but he continued to ask for a selfie.
    “No you can’t, behave yourself!” Vidya Balan lashed back at him and walked off.

    Later, in a conversation with Spotboye, she said. “When a stranger puts an arm around you, be it a man or a woman you get uncomfortable because they are intruding into your personal space. We are public figures, not public property.”
    Well, the fan sure got his lesson. A no is a NO. As simple as that.

    Unlike most volatile Bollywood stars, Aamir Khan doesn’t shy away from the media. In fact, he loves them. At his Birthday press meet today, Aamir was seen cracking silly jokes and speaking about a bunch of things—including King Khan, his mother, family etc. Dressed in a simple white button down, the 52-year-old looked happier than ever in his much-needed shave, post the beard he'd grown for the blockbuster, 'Dangal'.     ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is possibly one of the finest and one of the most popular sitcoms to have ever existed.  The entire cast is amazing and their acting level is stellar, so calling them merely ‘entertaining’ is an understatement. It truly is a show about geeky friends and their trials and tribulations with a massive heaping of Sheldon thrown in for good measure.

    Currently in its 10th season, the show has been picked up for two more seasons but that is not what the excitement is about. The makers were trying to push a prequel to the show and guess what? It has been picked up so it’s happening! It’s going to be called ‘Young Sheldon’, so no points on guessing who is going to be the main character here. Iain Armitage will play the prodigal young Sheldon and the show will chalk out his life with his family in Texas and how he became the ultimate geek.

    Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ has been personified a million times already but you have to admit that most of them have been pretty good! Another version doing the rounds and going viral is a ‘Bhangra’ mix of the song and two members of a Canada based Bhangra group are even performing on it!

    The video is not merely for entertainment purposes but the Maritime Bhangra group is synonymous with doing dance for noble causes. Through the video, they are trying to raise awareness and donations for the Multiple Sclerosis society of Canada.
    Well, if you liked those moves and love the whole Punjabi feel to the track, then let us help you with that. The Bhangra mix has been done by DJ Frenzy and the whole mix even has Diljit’s ‘Do You Know’ embedded in the song. This one is a killer.

    In 1950, when the inaugural season of the Formula One (F1) came to fore, it caught the attention of motorsport enthusiasts like wild fire. It wasn't just the fast cars going around in circles that got their pulses racing, rather the closeness of the drivers to death that made everyone feel more alive.
    If someone was to reflect on F1's journey so far, describing it as a mere 'sport' would surely be an understatement. It's high-stakes theatre where men gamble with their lives every time they take out their mean machines in the labyrinth, labelled as a race track.
    Just like the gladiators who were either expected to be killed or incur a fatal injury, F1 drivers are going faster than ever before, unaware of their fate. From 1954 and 1994, a total of 24 deaths in the history of F1 were recorded alongside numerous other life-changing injuries.

    On 17 July 2015, French driver Jules Bianchi, unfortunately became F1's 25th fatality. The 25-year-old Marussia driver succumbed to the brain injuries sustained in a crash during the Japanese Grand Prix in October 2014. He was in a coma since the accident, in which he collided at high speed with a mobile crane which was being used to pick up another crashed car.
    Even though Bianchi is the first driver to be killed from injuries sustained during a F1 Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna, 21 years ago, it still highlights a major issue. The fact that the existing safety measures and regulations in professional motorsport can never subdue the risks involved in the sport is still a matter of concern.
    It all began on 31st July 1954 when Onofre Marimon ran into a ditch and collided with a tree at the old Nurburgring in Germany during the practice session for the German Grand Prix. The Argentinian became the first fatality in the F1 history which was only going to increase in the coming years.
    Here's a look at five most unfortunate deaths in Formula One history:
    Ayrton Senna (1994)
    Many years after Formula One's deadliest period in the 1970s, Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna's death marked the unthinkable. The sport's greatest driver at the time - and in many people's eyes, the greatest to have lived - died on television in front of millions of people, in an era when fans did not expect drivers to die in the name of sport. The Brazilian tragically lost his life during the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola after crashing his Williams car into a concrete wall at 145 mph.
    A piece of the suspension assembly penetrated his helmet visor, and he died of fatal skull fractures. Senna's death was the second to have taken place in two days, as Austrian Roland Ratzenberger too had lost his life, after suffering a similar crash during the qualifying race.
    It was later revealed that a furled Austrian flag was found in his car that he had intended to raise in honour of Ratzenberger after the race.
    Gilles Villeneuve (1982)
    French-Canadian Gilles Villeneuve was one of the most well-known F1 drivers to have never won a world championship. Villeneuve lost his life after a horrific and harrowing accident in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder in 1982. With around 10 minutes of the final qualifying session remaining, Villeneuve caught the back of another car travelling around 140 mph, and was launched into the air.

    His Ferrari was airborne for more than 100 metres before crashing into the ground and somersaulting along the track. Villeneuve's helmet was torn from his head by the crash as he was thrown a further 50 metres from his destroyed car into the fencing around the edge of the circuit. 
    He died of a fatal neck fracture and was pronounced dead in the hospital that evening.
    Ronnie Peterson (1978)
    Ronnie Peterson, also known as the "Super Swede", was the championship runner-up twice during his career. In the 1978 Italian Grand Prix, the race started before all the cars were in their respective starting grids and as a result there was a massive crash which stopped the race for ten drivers. Peterson couldn't escape his car but he was rescued from the burning wreckage by fellow racers James Hunt, Clay Regazzoni and Patrick Depailler.
    What makes this accident most unfortunate is that Peterson didn't die at the crash site but instead in the hospital over-night. Peterson suffered several fractures but remained conscious which led his doctors to believe nothing was wrong. However, his untreated bones bled bone-marrow into his blood-stream and caused a fat-embolism which eventually killed him - thus undoing the good of Hunt, Regazzoni and Depailler's heroic act. 
    If not for his untimely demise, Peterson had every chance in the world to clinch the championship that year.
    Tom Pryce (1977)
    There has been just one Welsh driver in the history of F1 racing and his death resulted in some of the most gruesome footage ever committed to film. During the 1977 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami, Pryce and 19-year-old race Marshall, Jansen Van Vuuren, both lost their lives. Renzo Zorzi, whose car had stopped off track, was being tended to by Van Vuuren and another race Marshall at the Crowthorne Corner.
    The duo was carrying fire-extinguishers to prevent the car from catching fire when Pryce, who didn't see the Marshalls because of Hans Joachim-Stuck driving right in front of him, ran down Van Vuuren. Pryce was also killed instantly by the fire-extinguisher carried by Van Vuuren, which struck his head. His helmet strap also dug into his neck due to the impact and nearly decapitated Pryce. 
    The remains of Van Vuuren were flung several meters away due to the impact. Van Vuuren was so badly mutilated by the accident that he was only identified after the race through the process of elimination.
    Wolfgang von Trips (1961)
    Having scored points in five of the six races driven at that point and been on the podium four times with two victories to his name, Wolfgang von Trips was on his way to become Germany's first F1 champion in 1961. However, the eighth race of the season turned out to be his last.
    During the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Trips hit the back of Jim Clark's Lotus which sent his car flying into the air and into the audience before jumping back onto the track. Von Trips, who was flung away at a far distance following the impact of the crash, was proclaimed dead immediately by the medical team.
    The accident, which also claimed the lives of fifteen spectators in the process, is considered to be as gruesome as the Hills Borough tragedy which led to the death of 96 individuals during a FA Cup football clash between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in 1989.

    We’ve all been expecting Apple to host a spring event sometime soon where they will launch a series of new products, most likely the new generation of iPads. MacRumours have published a report claiming that we can very well expect Apple to announce something big next week.

    The publication has detailed that a “reputable supply chain analyst” has hinted that Apple is all set to host the event and will be launching their products there. What’s interesting is that this report is in line with other rumours that have been circulating about the event taking place as early as next week or early April.

    One can expect Apple to announce three new iPads at this event and Apple hopes to rejuvenate interest in this lineup of products since the company has been incoherent in the recent past. Apple’s iPad Air, Mini and Pro have not connected well with consumers since their launch and Apple plans to change that by introducing a new flagship 10.5-inch version and add more updates to other models.

    There’s also a good chance of Apple unveiling an updated iMac and possible a new iteration of the iPhone SE. However, it seems unlikely that Apple will launch a new phone especially since the world is waiting for the new flagship phone later this fall. A new iPhone SE could hinder future sales, which Apple might be hesitant about since they want all the attention focused on their flagship devices. Even though it is unlikely, a new phone would definitely be one of the most unexpected things Apple would have ever done at an event and might just breathe new life into the SE model.

    It’s been a few weeks since I have been testing the Apple Watch series 2 and before I can tell you how I feel about it, I must admit that wearing a smartwatch on me at all times has been a weird and mixed experience. I’ve tried numerous smartwatches in the recent past, which raised all sorts of questions such as confusion, skepticism and sometimes even praise. As a kid, I’ve always dreamt of having a tiny computer on my wrist to fulfill my fantasies inspired by numerous cartoon TV shows and movies. And, it feels like I finally have one. 

    The burning question everyone asks me is, “Does the Apple Watch replace your iPhone?”. Well in my opinion – maybe.

    iPhones are ubiquitous in my city as I can see them in every corner. The Apple Watch might not share the same success, but I’ve started noticing people getting hooked to it at my gym and at other social gatherings. I used my Apple Watch primarily for checking notifications and quick reply to texts, but it did not replace my iPhone completely. Common tasks such as reminders and calendar notifications did make my life easier but some apps took longer than expected to load. 

    However, after a while, I realised I started using the Apple Watch for other purposes such as tracking my steps, my heart rate and my exercises. I even used the smartwatch to control my music and my volume levels on the AirPods. The iOS ecosystem worked seamlessly and that’s what kept me hooked from the start.

    If you look at the Apple Watch Series 2, it is almost identical to the original, apart from being a little thicker to accommodate a bigger battery and an additional microphone hole. The first Apple Watch was elegant when it came to design but lacked a lot of features that one can find on the Apple Watch Series 2 today. The new iteration is faster and more intuitive than the original and here’s what we think about it. 
    It Has Better Water Resistance Let’s get straight to the point; you can now wear the Apple Watch while swimming in a pool or any other open water body (not salt water bodies, though). The current model can now be submerged up to 50 meters of water and you will not face a single glitch after you’re done with your swim. There are two different types of swimming workouts the Apple Watch can track i.e. pool swims and open water swim. These workout modes on the Apple Watch will track your distance, laps and different types of stroke styles.

    After activating one of the swim workouts, the Watch will auto-lock the screen so that no water droplets or pressure will hinder the smartwatch’s functioning. Once done with your swim, you can unlock the screen by twisting the crown, which will in turn play a sound and vibrates to push out any of the remaining water in any one of the holes. This sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, but it actually works. 
    It’s An Activity Tracker As Well & A Damn Good One!  The Apple Watch Series 2 now comes with the much-requested inbuilt GPS. The original watch was not really considered a fitness watch because of the fact it could not track your outdoor runs. However, Apple has now included GPS for outdoor runners so that they can track their progress and distance travelled. You no longer need to carry your iPhone to track your location when you go out for a run or cycle around your locality.

    Having said that, the Apple Watch Series 2 doesn’t really tell you it’s tracking you via GPS. Once you fire up the outdoor experience, the watch automatically starts tracking your position and you don’t even know it. I generally don’t run outdoors that much thanks to the polluted air New Delhi has to offer, however, I did track my usual late night walks and I can say that it is very accurate. It knows where I am and calculates the exact distance I have travelled. Just to make sure it was correct, I compared the results with Google Maps and my car and it was indeed very accurate. 
    Heart Rate Tracking and “Breathe:” The Apple Watch has one of the best activity tracking apps I have ever seen on a smartwatch. The fact that such an app exists on the smartwatch, means that it completely fulfills the watch’s position as a fitness tracker. It has the same heart rate sensors from before and your daily activity is still represented in the form of multi-coloured rings. I personally find those rings very motivating because it is a visual representation of my progress, making me want to “close those rings”. 

    The heart rate sensor on the Apple Watch is extremely accurate (I know this because I visited a doctor recently and asked what my BPM was while I secretly tracked it on the smartwatch). The watch also has a built-in app, which periodically reminds you to breathe deeply so that you can control your heart rate. In fact, I love this feature so much that I never miss my breathing sessions as it really calms and de-stresses me out.

    When you activate the ‘Breathe’ application, it vibrates on your wrist creating a very relaxing sensation and works in-sync with the pulsating animation on the watch to help you take longer breaths. 

    All the steps, your heart rate, the number of calories burned and your breath patterns are synced with your phone over Bluetooth. You can even share your goals and achievements with other Apple Watch owners to up the ante, if you like being competitive. 
    Improved Battery Life, But Still Not Enough © MensXP
    The fact that Apple decided to include GPS on the watch, means that a bigger battery was required to power it. The battery life is a lot better than the original but it still isn’t enough. I went through an entire day of activity tracking, notifications and even used GPS tracking and still had 30 percent of the battery left. However, on days when I would work out, I noticed the battery drained rather quickly and needed to be charged on a regular basis. If you want to use the Apple Watch Series 2 as a fitness tracker and don’t mind charging it every other day, then go for it. 
    The Final Say  If you already have an iPhone and you are looking for the perfect companion smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 2 is it. The smart watch acts as a great fitness tracker with accurate GPS, steps and heart rate tracking but lacks the battery life to make it the perfect smartwatch for your iPhone. If you have INR 34,700 at your disposable to spend on a smartwatch, the buck stops here.

    One of the leading online cab services, Uber, has released a set of guidelines for riders and drivers alike, and it looks like it might not go down too well with some people. These rules are applicable for all those cities where Uber is present. According to the new guidelines – vomiting inside the cab after drinking heavily or getting mushy and cosy with your partner – can get you blocked from availing Uber’s services in the future. While we can still control our carnal emotions, what are we supposed to do about the drinking part? Usually, one takes cabs after getting drunk and vomiting inside the cab, no matter how gross it sounds, is still a bodily function that is not in our control.

    A strict warning was sent out by Uber which states that there will be, “no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders, no matter what,”. In fact, the list just doesn’t end there, as “unwanted contact with the driver or fellow passenger after the trip is over”, “touching or flirting with other people in the car” and asking “overly” personal questions are prohibited as well. However, it’s not like one drunk throwing up session will drive you away from the luxuries of this cab service. The company will take actions based on the nature of the “problematic behaviour”, although your account will be put on hold for the time being. The statement further added, “If the issues raised are serious or a repeat offence, or you refuse to cooperate with the driver, you may lose access to Uber.”

    “When drivers use Uber, they do more than simply drive: they’re sharing their own car, their space, their time and a slice of who they are with passengers,” read the statement. It was further added, “But some don’t – whether it’s leaving trash in the car, throwing up in the back seat after too much alcohol or asking the driver to break the speed limit so they can get to their appointment on time. This kind of poor behaviour is not OK, which is why we will take action against passengers who are rude, abusive or violent.”

    However, it’s not just cab users who are under the radar, drivers too can get blacklisted if the following instances happen – repeated refusals, cancellations and dip in star ratings, along with a few other actions. What’s more, the drivers can’t “discriminate” on the basis of where the rider is going or what’s the rider’s caste, religion or disability. These exhaustive guidelines have been translated into 10 Indian languages, and are aimed at instilling traits of good behaviour in both riders and drivers. 
    So guys, next time you take a cab make sure that you are not too drunk that you end up puking on the car seat, and if you are then at least step outside to finish the business.

Spider silk is said to be one of the toughest yet softest materials in the world, so wearing something made of that material would really feel out of this world. What’s surprising is that it took them nearly seven years to produce the first tie, the team was able to spin the next one in 60 days, as told to Tech Crunch by Dan Widmaier, company’s founder. However, Bolt Threads is not the only company that mass produces silk. There’s a company called Spiber in Japan that also uses special yeast to make spider silk and is slated to introduce a “Moon Parka” jacket this year.
