    You will often find dudes arguing which form of cardio is superior. A typical bro might say steady is the holy cardio regime and a cross fitter might say sprinting is the right way to do it. If you’re into muscle building or strength development, cardiovascular training should only be utilized as a tool to lose fat. And like any tool, this tool also needs to be used precisely for good results. Unfortunately most people running on the treadmill have got no clue why they’re running. In this article, I’m going to teach how to accurately utilize cardio for losing fat.
    The Three Forms Of Cardio

    Walking on a treadmill at the speed of 4-5 watching your favorite TV show or any other activity (cycling or cross runner) at equivalent intensity, is a prime example of steady state cardio. 
    Calories burnt: 0.2 per pound of body weight in 10 mins
    Pros:
    Causes no fatigue
    Doesn’t interfere with strength adaptations
    Cons:
    Calories burnt is very less, needs to be done for longer duration.

    It’s nothing but jogging on the treadmill at the speed of 10-15 or any other activity at equivalent intensity. It’s primarily an endurance activity.
    Calories burnt: 0.2 per pound of body weight in 10 mins
    Pros:
    More calories burnt
    Easy on joints and muscles
    Cons:
    Being an endurance activity, it can causes adaptations which interfere with strength training adaptations.

    All out sprinting on the treadmill for 30-40 seconds, then resting and repeating the drill is a prime example. This is very similar to strength training and burns the maximum amount of calories in a short period of time.
    Calories burnt: 0.7 per pound of body weight in 10 mins
    Pros:
    Burns max amount of calories 
    Needs to be done for a short period
    Cons:
    Taxing on joints and muscles
    Demands extra recovery
    Which is the best form of cardio?
    Like I said before, cardio is just a tool for burning fat. Thus there’s no point of discussing which form is the best. Let’s dive in and see how much you should do.

    Let’s assume you’re 70kg individual with maintenance calories of 2100 cals. Click here if you don’t know what your maintenance calories are.  Now, if you aim to lose around 0.5Kg weight per week (Most optimal), you need to create a weekly deficit of 3500 calories i.e. consume 500 less calories from maintenance every day. Consuming only 1600 calories per day will not be feasible if you wish to lift heavy. Consuming 1800 calories will allow being in a deficit and also provide sufficient energy to train hard. However, that is just a weekly deficit of 2100 calories. Here comes cardio as the fat burning tool. We know how much calories are burnt per 10 mins each form of cardio. Taking the example if you’re 70kg individual, you will burn 30, 69 and 107 calories per 10 mins doing steady state intensity, medium state intensity and high state intensity cardio respectively.
    Using these numbers you can formulate a cardio regime for yourself to burn 1400 calories in a week.
    Recommendations for cardio
    High intensity cardio shouldn’t be more than 2 times a week with 30 mins as max duration per session as it is wearing for the joints and muscles. Moderate state intensity shouldn’t exceed 1 hour per week. For rest of the cardio opt for steady state intensity cardio.

    Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Rangoon’ has one hero – Miss Julia, the fearless mask-wearing actress who can swing from chandeliers, walk on ropes, wield knives with accuracy better than a trained soldier and charm one and all with her exotic beauty at the same time. Played by the equally feisty Kangana Ranaut, she reminds you of Indian cinema’s very own original stunt actress, Fearless Nadia. The makers of ‘Rangoon’ are currently embroiled in a legal controversy with Wadia Movietone as it has been alleged that the character of Miss Julia has been heavily inspired from Fearless Nadia. We take a look at the extraordinary life and career of the woman who everybody called Fearless Nadia.

    Even today, there aren’t too many stunt actresses in the Hindi film industry, and the role of jumping around fences and vanquishing villains is primarily kept for the men. Way back in the mid-nineties, however, was one woman who not only ‘trapezed’ her way into Hindi films but did so with much poise and gusto. She came to be known as Fearless Nadia, one of the first and most glamourous stunt actresses the Hindi film had seen.

    Born as Mary Ann Evans in Perth, Autralia, she moved to India at the age of five when her father, who was a volunteer in the British Army, was posted to Bombay. Two years later, the family had to move to Peshawar after her father died during World War 1. There she learned horse-riding, shooting, hunting and fishing, something that would form the base of her career as a stunt actress. Upon returning to Bombay in 1928, Mary honed her skills further and learned ballet, cartwheels and splits as she explored theatre, circus, and dance forms. She toured India performing with Russian ballerina Madam Astrova’s dance troupe that often held shows at military bases for soldiers.

    But as with any successful personality in history, she was not content with just that. She dreamt of the movies and yearned for something much bigger than dance troupes and circus life. She changed her name to ‘Nadia’ on a fortune-teller’s suggestion that a name starting with the letter ‘n’ would bring her success. And success was just round the corner in the form of movie producers Jamshed and Homi Wadia.

    The blue-eyed white-skinned beauty who could do cartwheels and sing Hindi songs was a rare find, and soon, she was offered her first role in a movie. Though the role was minor, she didn’t go unnoticed and the audience was charmed by her exotic beauty. She got her first big role in 1935, when Jamshed Wadia wrote ‘Hunterwali’ keeping in mind Nadia. She played a brave princess fighting to protect justice in her father’s kingdom. The film was directed by Homi Wadia, who she would go on to marry later. The film was a huge success and so was ‘Fearless Nadia’.

    Surprisingly, the conservative middle-class India of the 1930s accepted and applauded the whip-yielding stunt heroine who beat men, jumped fences, swung from chandeliers and fought with swords. She soon rose to the status of a feminist icon and the masses saw her as a symbol of rebellion against the oppressive establishment. Fearless Nadia was instilling fearlessness in an entire nation. The masses got an unconventional hero and dream girl rolled into one.
    There was no looking back; Fearless Nadia had made a space in the hearts of Indian audiences. She went on to do many more movies keeping up the image of the fearless female fighter. Talking about her effortless daredevilry, Homi Wadia told Girish Karnad in an interview for the magazine Cinema Vision, ‘Actually, Nadia who was the heroine [of the film ‘Miss Frontier Mail’], got so used to being on top of the train that she wouldn’t get down even for lunch. She ate her sandwiches right there on the roof.’

    The duo who created a whole genre of action films, Nadia and Homi Wadia, got married in 1961, at the age of 53 and 51 respectively. She passed away in the year 1996, leaving behind a legacy of strong women characters in Hindi cinema capable of fighting their own wars. Roy Wadia, grandson of Jamshed Wadia, reminisced about her while speaking to TOI, “One among the boys, she loved whiskey and had no airs. Mary aunty didn't buy into her legends and myths!"
    Shyam Benegal couldn’t have summed it up better when he said, "She stood for the good and the right in society, which is what Amitabh Bachchan did as a character and became an absolute epitome for fighting for the right cause. Without Fearless Nadia, there would be no Amitabh Bachchan's angry young man."

    Physical fitness is a general state of health and well-being. But, in the field of sports, it is one of the most pivotal ingredients to success. Not only does it enables a sportsperson to perform better, it further enables them to elevate their game to another level.
    Amongst multiple sports, cricket is probably the one that is marred with lack of adequate fitness (a rare exception being Virat Kohli). While the level of fitness has surely increased over the years, the game wasn't really  with shredded bodies back in the day.
    On the cricket field, there have been several individuals who we have looked at and wondered - how are they competing with some of the best athletes in the world? Just like in Kung Fu Panda, when Grand Master Oogway pointed his finger at Po and said he would be the Dragon Warrior? No one, not even Po, believed that he could ignore his giant frame and use kung fu to save the Valley of Peace in times of distress.
    Similarly, with a few hits and misses, there are cricketers who didn't just surprise us but also won our hearts as they carved out a niche of their own.
    And, with the proud tradition of fat cricketers facing extinction because of modern sports science and professionalism, we bring back days of the old when the exploits of some of the 'biggest' stars forced us to look beyond their weight problems.

    If your mum's a chef, your family has every chance of being on the larger side, and if you end up living above an Indian takeaway, chances are you will look a lot like Obelix. Leverock's was a similar case.
    The Bermuda cricketer was chucked out of the national side because he was just too big and too much of a liability. But, he knuckled down and scrapped nearly 23 kilos off his original 136 kgs.

    Leaner, only relatively, Leverock set the 2007 World Cup on fire with one of the greatest catches ever. He leapt a full length to his right and latched onto an edge from India's Robin Uthappa. Now, that's what you call winning the haters over like a pro.

    When a conversation veers in the direction of 'big' men who succeeded in cricket, Arjuna Ranatunga's name is the one that's hard to miss. Despite being a little chubby around the waist, he was adept at handling pace and spin. If that wasn't enough, Ranatunga was fairly decent with the ball too.
    The only riddle he couldn't solve was the running between wickets. He couldn't, or didn't, run between the wickets or on the field, even if his life depended on it. He would call for runners and substitutes pretty regularly and irk opposing captains.
    But, despite his weight issues, the left-hander silenced his critics after leading Sri Lanka to their greatest cricketing triumph - the 1996 World Cup.

    Pakistani legend Izamam-ul-Haq's waist line seemed to grow at the same speed as his flowing hipster beard. He is probably the first name that comes to mind when someone talks about top overweight cricketers in history. 
    The former Pakistan skipper was more unfit than fat, big and burly; his brain just couldn't get his feet to move when running between wickets. It was just a series of hilarious incidents. A big guy calling for a run, calling it off and then calling again only to get stranded midway with a bewildered look on his face.
    While he continues to be the butt of jokes, Inzy bhai was arguably a symbiosis of strength and subtlety. Power was no surprise, but sublime touch was remarkable for a man of his bulk. He loathed exercise and often looked a passenger in the field, but with a willow between his palms he was suddenly galvanised.

    Fat and Australian cricketer don't really go hand-in-hand, especially in this day and age. But, not too long ago, Australia had a plenty of them on the field. While Mark Cosgrove is clearly flying that flag, the Oz spin legend Shane Warne wasn't far behind either.
    One of the greatest leg-spinners of all time was not particularly slim at any point during his playing days. In fact, it won't be wrong to say that Warne has probably looked his fittest since leaving the game.
    When he arrived on the international circuit, he was a little more than chubby. When he was being touted as one of the best spinners in the world, he was still on the heavier side. When he grabbed his monumental 700th Test wicket, he had a beer gut.

    The West Indies' latest revelation, Rahkeem Cornwall, is the reason we decided to write this article. The 24-year-old all-rounder made headlines for his standout performance during England's tour match win over the West Indies XI in Saint Kitts.
    The 2m giant hit 59 runs off 61 balls, including three sixes and three fours. But, all of that was put in the shade by his impressively jolly frame. At 6'5, Rahkeem might not be the tallest cricketer in the circuit, but add to it a body weight of 140 kgs and he definitely is 'big'. And it turns out cricket fans still love a plump athlete with skills for days.
    Well, clearly, he is the man to carry cricket's greatest tradition into the next age of overweight athletes.

    When Travis Kalanick, the CEO of Uber took his own company’s cab, it escalated into something that the internet was not going to forget. Kalanick was travelling with two female friends in an Uber Black, the high-end service that the cab service company launched in 2010.

    According to the dash-cam video, it can clearly be seen that the Uber driver, Fawzi Kamel, and Kalanick got into a heated argument over the falling fares. In the video, one of his companions is faintly heard to have said that she heard that Uber is having a hard year. To which Kalanick replied, “I make sure every year is a hard year.” He continued, “That’s kind of how I roll. I make sure every year is a hard year. If it’s easy I’m not pushing hard enough.”

    At the end of the journey, when the driver also tried to bring up his complaint over Uber’s wages to Kalanick, he replied rather angrily, “Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own sh*t.”
    However, it has been reported that Kalanick later wrote an email to the whole staff after the video went viral. In an effort to apologise to Kamel for his behaviour, Kalanick wrote, “To say that I am ashamed is an extreme understatement. My job as your leader is to lead…and that starts with behaving in a way that makes us all proud. That is not what I did, and it cannot be explained away. It’s clear this video is a reflection of me—and the criticism we’ve received is a stark reminder that I must fundamentally change as a leader and grow up. This is the first time I’ve been willing to admit that I need leadership help and I intend to get it.”
    We can just hope that his apology is a sincere one.

    In our growing years, if there was any show that kept us glued to our television sets – it has to be ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’. This hilarious drama was way popular back in the day, surpassing our shared love for shows like ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ and ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ (although it doesn’t mean that we love these any less). This show was based on the popular column ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chashma’ written by Taarak Mehta, an acclaimed Indian humorist, columnist, writer and playwright. That writer behind that great show and column breathed his last today after a prolonged illness.

Let me tell you he is very down to earth and humble. He is a national treasure today but I am fan of his because he hasn't changed even a little from when I meet him 4 years back #realhero

    Trump’s America is racist and there’s no doubt about it. Attacks on people of colour have become common and the Trump government is not batting an eyelid. We were still reeling under the shock of 31-year-old Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla being shot dead by a 51-year-old white American man in a racist attack. Hurling racial slurs at them, telling them to get out of his country, Adam Purinton opened fire at two techies, out of which one received a fatal shot. In his defence, he later said he mistook them to be Middle-Eastern.

    And now, another Indian living in the US has fallen prey to a racist attack. The man’s house in Denver was trashed with dog poop and eggs, and hate messages scribbled across his walls. Reports say that at least 40 eggs were thrown at his house and around 50 strips of papers with racial slurs were found strewn around his house, including his car. The hate messages read something like 'You brown or Indian shouldn't be here’.

    The FBI is looking into the case and it is believed that a group of people was involved in the hate crime. In stark contrast to the hateful messages and the ugly attack, the man’s neighbours turned up and cleaned the house, lessening some of the hurt. The Indian homeowner himself was more affected by the compassion than the hate, he said.

    While America remains divided into these two categories – racists like Adam Purinton and humanitarians like Ian Grillot, the man who took a bullet while trying to save the Indian techie – it is disturbing to see that neither the American government nor the American media has picked up the issue with the urgency it deserves. For that matter, why is the Indian government not fuming at the turn of events? If PM Modi can promptly respond to a tweet asking for his shawl, he sure can send a strong message to the country where his countrymen are being shot for being Indian.

News about how our soldiers are not equipped with modern weaponry in nothing surprising.  Finally, the government is spending some much needed cash on a shopping trip to get our soldiers some of the world’s finest warfare equipment. Long pending ‘restricted’ tenders to purchase foreign made weapons have finally been released. The arsenal contains new assault rifles, sniper rifles, general purpose machine guns, lightweight rocket-launchers, tactical shotguns, pistols, night-vision devices and ammunition. Phew, talk about concussive firepower!

    As many as seven tenders have been issued to American and Israeli manufacturers. Also, in a different capital acquisition project, trials are in progress to acquire over 120 light strike vehicles, which can be carried by helicopters, for the Special Forces," said a source. The wake-up call came after the surgical strikes that the Special Forces carried out in Pakistan and Myanmar. An immediate need for lighter and more tactical weapons was realized and hence this action has been taken. The Special Forces already have specialized weaponry, ranging from Israeli 5.56mm TAR-21 Tavor assault rifles and 7.62mm Galil sniper rifles to American M4A1 carbines and Swedish Carl Gustav rocket launchers, as well as equipment. This is going to be one hell of an upgrade!

    We all love stalking people on Facebook. Don’t even try to deny it! Facebook’s new update will probably be a blessing for all stalkers. Last year, the site introduced the new Facebook reactions, that let people Like, Love, or react with Haha, Wow, or show everyone that they are Sad or Angry. Using and analysing the data from these reactions, the company has been sneakily planning this new update that will influence what we see on our news feed.

    A Facebook spokesperson said in a statement, ‘Over the past year we’ve found that if people leave a Reaction on a post, it is an even stronger signal that they’d want to see that type of post than if they left a Like on the post. So we are updating News Feed to weigh reactions a little more than Likes when taking into account how relevant the story is to each person.’
    Simply put, if you have been actively reacting to a certain type of posts, rather than just ‘liking’ them, you will now see similar kind of posts all over your feed.

    As of now, all the reactions, including likes, are weighed the same in terms of how the news feed algorithm is influenced by your activity, and the new update is working towards changing that. The new update will consider the posts you react to as more engaging, than the ones you just merely ‘like’.
    The new update is also a good reminder of how there’s no such thing as privacy anymore and your every move is being tracked and scrutinized online. But you can always just scroll and not like or react to posts.

    We fell in love with the team in the first movie and now we’re ready for more. The Guardians of the Galaxy are back along with Yondu and a few new faces to rock your world! The first film was a fun romp through the lesser known stories and characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it was a hit with both fans and critics alike.

    After defeating Ronan the Accuser, the Guardians are back at it with the cutest little Baby Groot in tow. From the first few scenes in the trailer it looks like the Guardians are fighting some kind of tentacle monster and judging by the little bit we’ve seen here, it’s going to be super awesome.
