A Lenovo Smartphone Just Had A Galaxy Note 7 Moment As It Exploded In A Students Pocket

Remember the Note 7 debacle from last year when Samsung's flagship phones started to explode randomly and caused a huge problem all around the world? Well, it seems like the danger of Lithium Ion batteries is now affecting another smartphone brand. This time around a Lenovo K6 Note exploded and it's not a joke anymore.

The Lenovo K6 Note burst in this student's pocket as he was waiting at the bus stop. He felt a warm sensation in his pockets as if something was burning. He soon noticed smoke started to come out his phone and immediately threw it on the ground. He suffered first-degree burns and was rushed to the hospital soon after. The pictures were posted by the user on Facebook and since then he has even made a video to show the damage.

To be fair, the cause of the overheating and also the cause of the fire is not yet known, however, it is probably related to a faulty ion battery. The Lenovo K6 note has a 4,000 mAh battery which has been a common source of overheating even while using the device moderately.

Lenovo is currently looking into the matter, however, there is no word as to whether the company will replace the phone or not. The Lenovo K6 Note launched last year in September and was purchased by the victim on 28th December 2016.

We've reached out to Lenovo representatives for a comment and are awaiting a response to give a further update on this situation. You can have a look at the damage in the video posted by the user below:
