ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Thursday expressed concern over the increase in Indian brutality in the occupied valley of Kashmir.

In his weekly media briefing at the Foreign Office, Zakaria noted that there has been a rise in atrocities by occupying Indian forces in Kashmir. He said more than 18,000 Kashmiris are missing while Indian troops are using rape as a weapon to subdue the people in the valley.

He pointed out that India is trying to scare families of Hurriyat leaders. There has also been an increase in atrocities against Muslims, Christians and Dalits in India, he added.

Zakaria urged the international community to take notice of the continuing Indian aggression.

He said Pakistan had offered to arrange medical treatment of Kashmiris injured by pellet guns but India had refused. The offer remains on the table, he added.

Recapping the major events from the week, the spokesperson said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited Maldives on the invitation of Maldives? President Abdulla Yameen.

Zakaria conveyed Pakistan's deep gratitude to the Afghan government on the safe recovery of two diplomatic officials of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jalalabad. He said Pakistan does not believe in blame game, adding that hurling of accusations was detrimental to efforts of establishing peace in the region.
