ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam rejected on Thursday allegations by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that he is behind Ayesha Gulalai?s allegations against Imran Khan.

Holding a press conference in Islamabad, Muqam said he called Gulalai after her allegations surfaced in the media, and talked barely for a minute or so. ?I told her I appreciate you speaking the truth,? shared Muqam, adding that he has never met or spoken to her before or after that phone call.

Gulalai, a PTI MNA from South Waziristan, alleged on Tuesday that Imran had sent her inappropriate text messages. She had also alleged that the ?honour of women is not safe? in the party, and announced leaving the PTI.

?I don?t believe in conspiracies, I only believe in being transparent in front of the people,? claimed Muqam.

Muqam, a senior PML-N leader from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and a member of the recently-dissolved Nawaz Sharif cabinet, lashed out at the PTI for promoting a ?culture of lying?.

He categorically rejected claims that he paid Gulalai to level the allegations. ?Why would I need Gulalai to level allegations of corruption against the KP government when the whole world knows it already,? he said.

Muqam said he would go to court against the PTI's 'lies', adding that he would also serve them a defamation notice worth Rs500 million ? the same amount the PTI alleged he gave Gulalai for her remarks.Β

Replying to a question, Muqam said he does not need to dissolve the KP Assembly as the PTI itself is bringing down its own government.Β
