ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should not be stopped from celebrating his disqualification if he wants to do so, said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf?s Babar Awan.

Addressing the media in the federal capital on Tuesday, Awan said Nawaz used to say democracy is threatened when people take to the street. But now Nawaz was doing the contrary.

The PTI leader was referring to Nawaz's GT Road cavalcade to Lahore that is set to start tomorrow (Wednesday).

Earlier, Awan called Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz a GT Road party, saying they have used the route earlier for many rallies.

Besides, a PTI lawyer, Usman Basra, has also filed a petition at the Islamabad High Court, requesting a ban on the cavalcade.

According to the petitioner, the rally is an effort to undermine the authority of the Supreme Court and pressurise the accountability court [set to hear the National Accountability Bureau?s references against the Sharif family].
