ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan on Wednesday said that his party will not accept any constitutional amendment introduced to protect merely one person, adding that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is left with no option to escape.

Addressing media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan, Awan said that Article 62 and 63 are part of the 1973 Constitution and the Public Representative Act, 1976. That it was part of the 1976 act means that the law was formed during Zulfikar Ali Bhutto?s tenure, he added.

Commenting on the Electoral Reforms Bill 2017, passed by the National Assembly on Tuesday amid criticism from opposition, Awan said that the bill does not have any legal value till yet.
