LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif is chairing a meeting of his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), at his residence in Jati Umra, Raiwind.

Sources said the meeting is being attended by several ministers and party leaders, including Saad Rafique, Daniyal Aziz, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Javed Latif.

The participants of the meeting will discuss the party?s strategy regarding the upcoming NA-120 by-election in Lahore, as well as the country?s present political situation.

Sources said Sharif directed for increasing the pace of the by-election campaign following the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

The seat, NA-120, fell vacant when Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court on July 28 in the Panama Papers case.

Sharif?s wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, is the PML-N candidate for the by-election. However, owing to the recent discovery of her suffering from lymphoma, the election campaign is being spearheaded by her daughter, Maryam.Β

The by-election on the seat is due on September 17.Β
