  1. All social media platforms are designed for the living, so that we can connect and interact with other people online. But a platform like Facebook, which has been around for decades, has a lot of users who're no longer alive. So the social media giant rolled out some features like the ability to assign a legacy contact to be charge of one's account after they die. Now, Facebook has announced that it's rolling out more features for dead people and how these legacy contacts have more control over the deceased person's account. It's a really nice gesture, and we're glad that Facebook is offering these new features. However, we would have loved to see Facebook fixing its platform for the living first. You know, the privacy issues that are giving nightmares and keeping us away from the platform. © Reuters Anyway, Facebook has rolled out some meaningful features, so let's check them out. First off, Facebook has added the ability to manage a new 'Tribute' section where the loved ones can remember the deceased person and pay their respects. Facebook also noted that it's addressing some pressing complaints against how a dead person's account is handled. Now, for instance, before an account is 'memorialized', Facebook will verify whether the person is actually dead. Only after a successful verification will the legacy contact be able to control the account. Also, only a friend or a family member can request to have an account memorialized. Lastly, the company also said they will use AI tools to prevent sending birthday reminders and friend recommendations for deceased users. Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said, “We know the loss of a friend or family member can be devastating - and we want Facebook to be a place where people can support each other while honouring the memory of their loved ones.” © Facebook Yeah, all these features, as we said, are really useful for the legacy contact, but we'd rather have the company focusing on fixing privacy issues for the living. Really, we all have some serious doubts on Facebook and how it handles our account and private information. If things keep escalating at the same rate and if people keep quitting the platform due to privacy reasons, then there will be no dead people's account or legacy contacts in the first place.
  2. Just when I thought Facebook was done screwing up its user's privacy, a new report just popped up saying that Facebook's employees had access to hundreds of millions of user passwords. Good job, Facebook! Yesterday, when an independent security journalist named Brian Krebs reported about this mistake, Facebook issued a press release to confirm the same and said it discovered the mishap during a “routine security review in January.” Here's the best part - The press release was titled “Keeping Passwords Secure”. LOL! © Reuters Krebs' report noted that anywhere between 200 to 600 million people are affected due to this mistake, which shouldn't have happened in the first place. In fact, it looks like some passwords were found in archives dating back to 2012. The social media site estimates that hundreds of millions of Facebook Lite users, tens of millions of other Facebook users, and tens of thousands of Instagram users. Looks like the issue has been fixed and it will notify everyone affected. © Pexels According to Facebook, there's no evidence that plain text passwords were exposed outside of the company, neither were they abused internally. So, it says even the affected users don't necessarily need to change their passwords, but I'd still change it if I were you. I am sure you know that this isn't the first security breach that Facebook and its users are dealing with. All we've been hearing about is Facebook and it's privacy issues. It all started with the Cambridge Analytica scandal, and it's just been a string of bad security issues. People even started dumping Facebook, which I once wondered was the right thing to do. But now, I have some serious trust issues and I wonder if it's time to dump the platform for real.

It's actually not just him, but his name as well that has inspired people and some have even named their new-born after him. Bollywood is also not behind, and people are already planning to make movies about him. But, some people have also decided to cash in on his popularity in the worst way. Turns out, a lot of fake accounts with his name sprung up online soon after his release and well, it's not him, folks! We all know how the number game on social media works, and it's so sad that some people will go to any extreme lengths to get that, even if it means impersonating a national hero online.   5. Going seven years back in time, as an average IT professional, I was working from 9 to 6 in an MNC with a very limited focus on my fitness and eating habits. With a very lean body type – 60kg and short height (5'6) my appearance was tiny. I was constantly made fun of and that resulted in low self-esteem, confidence impacting my performance across all functions of life. Poor Eating Habits Staying away from home, I used to eat whatever was accessible to me with zero attention to what type of food I was consuming and what it will do to my body. With ample free time after office and during weekends, I decided to join a nearby gym with the goal to become big and at the same time socialize with fellow gym-goers. Change In Job Locations I slowly started to do light to moderate workouts following traditional coaches and their techniques. After not seeing any significant results after 6 months, I was fortunate enough to come across a trainer who focused on natural diet and using correct form. But, as it usually happens in the IT industry I received a better job offer from a company in Gurgaon and hence had to shift my base from Noida to Gurgaon. I restarted my workout but this time I was constantly pushed by my trainers to take supplements from whey proteins to creatine. First Encounter With Steroids & Kidney Issues For personal benefits, my coach even tried to persuade me to go for Dianabol as well. Though I completely ignored his advice of taking steroids, I started taking supplements like whey protein and BCAAs. After a few months, I noticed some changes in my body structure but also observed that my gut health started to suffer. I got constant issues of indigestion, bloating etc. I got a full body checkup done and found that my creatinine levels were very high. Most of the aspiring bodybuilders, aspirants neglect these small issues which are very critical for your overall health. Changing The Coach At this point, I immediately stopped taking advice from this coach and hired an online coach whose fitness methodology focused on 100% natural transformation. By this time, the fitness bug had bitten me and I started to read a lot of online material on fitness and nutrition to increase my knowledge and did my ISSA certification as well. Managing Kidney Issues Also, I decided to train my body in 100% natural way with zero help of supplements. As an immediate step, I reduced my protein intake from 210gm to 130gm which was appropriate for my body needs and my creatinine levels became normal. At this time, I faced a major confusion on growing muscle while digesting protein ineffectively. I began to eat a lot of protein derived from natural or readily available sources like Paneer, Tofu, Legumes and Milk. Self Education & Learning Gradually with more research and time spent on reading online fitness materials, I became aware of my body type, its needs and correct form/technique of doing exercises. I created my own workout plan focusing on more than one body part every day. This was combined with a carefully planned diet plan with optimal calories, macronutrients and micronutrients. With progressive overloading and following a strict yet completely natural diet plan, I gained good muscle mass over a period of time. Now for further refining my Fitness Knowledge and bringing the physique to a next level, I have decided to work with a coach named Rachit Bir from BIRa Fitness.

Apart from the confidence boost and other potential upsides of participating in daily physical activity, there are some people who fall prey to the downsides by taking fitness to an extreme, skipping social occasions, and being too restrictive. Please don't take this route unless you are a competitive athlete, as college time won't come back and in the long term, such short-term deviation won't matter much. That's it, folks! If you are a college student and are not participating in any form of physical activity on a daily basis, you are making a HUGE MISTAKE. This is one of the most perfect solutions for someone looking to increase their confidence in a holistic manner. Hopefully. 6. Do Not Overdo The Playful Leg-Pulling/Nicknaming Every relationship has those quirks where you have pet names for one another, a few which are mostly meant to embarrass the other.   9. It's been a while since Irrfan Khan has been undergoing treatment for a neuroendocrine tumour in London. The news of the talented actor suffering from a rare form of cancer broke many hearts. Amid his ongoing health struggles, the actor today took to his Facebook page and announced that he will be opting out of Amazon Prime Original series 'The Ministry', now titled 'Gormint'. The show was one of the most-anticipated ones, especially because Irrfan was a part of it. The actor had already shot several scenes of the series but had to back out due to health concerns. Taking to Facebook, he shared, “With a heavy heart I would like to say that due to this ongoing situation, I will not be able to fulfil my acting commitment to the show. © Twitter I am gutted by this development because the character and the show thrilled me and I even lived with the character for several months before having to cut the journey short. But after extensive discussions, workarounds and sincere efforts by everyone involved, the situation prevents me from being able to do the show entirely. And thus, I must, at this time, exit stage left.” The actor mentioned how he is still looking forward to the show, “excited to see the final product and have complete faith in the creative team to deliver something that is unique and unseen in the Indian satire space so far and I wish them the same good luck and love that they have always wished for me,” Irrfan added. © Facebook Sharing the sad news AIB's Gursimran Khamba shared a picture of Irrfan and wrote, “To everyone who's been asking me “What's happening with The Ministry? Irrfan Khan has been fighting cancer with a smile giving all of us a huge lesson, as to how to deal with life, when the going gets tough.
  10. Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Pro comes with a six-core Intel Core i9 processor that is blazing fast. The MacBook line-up had been needing a processor update for quite some time now, and this was a welcome move. But according to YouTuber Dave Lee, the performance of Apple's new Core i9 MacBook Pro isn't actually that great and in some cases performs worse than last year's Core i7 MacBook Pro. The i9 variant costs US$ 3,099 while the last year's i7 variant cost US$ 2,800. © Apple The i9 processor has a clock speed of 2.9GHz and supports Turbo Boost (over-clocking) up to 4.8Ghz. But according to testing carried out, the processor can't even maintain the base frequency of 2.9GHz, forget over-clocking. Every processor has a marked TDP (Thermal Design Point) that regulates how much heat can be handled at the base frequency. In the i9's case, the TDP is 45 watts, which is the same as the last year's i7. This means the laptop casing can handle the heat theoretically. But things change when we start considering Turbo Boost. © iFixit Turbo Boost will generate an enormous amount of heat, that is unable to exit the casing, this, in turn, reduces the performance of the processor. A cool processor can perform faster, hence all laptops and computers concentrate equally on heat dissipation. To further prove that heat is the prime reason why the i9 processor is being throttled, Dave put his laptop in the freezer and the video rendering time dropped from 40 minutes to 27 minutes. The conclusion being, the MacBook's chassis, and the cooling system aren't actually able to keep up with the heat being generated by the i9. © iFixit On Apple's website, the specifications page mentions the i9 processor to have a base clock speed of 2.9GHz and a boost of 4.8GHz. This definitely opens up doors for a lot of criticism as the system is practically not able to keep up with that level of performance. There is a possibility that Dave's MacBook Pro could actually be faulty, as there are multiple ways to cool down a portable machine like a laptop. Fans are just one part of the equation, metal casing, location of the processor, thermal paste, heat sinks and heat flow pipes also massively contribute here. Apple hasn't released a statement on the issue yet.
