Ambati Rayudu Courts Controversy After Slapping Senior Citizen In Road-Rage Incident

A pint-sized fluent strokemaker, Ambati Rayudu, was touted to be India's next great batting hope when he blazed an unbeaten 177 while opening the innings for India Under-19s against England back in 2002. But, over the years, the right-handed batsman failed to find a spot in the Indian side apart from the occasional low-profile series.

While he continues to be pivotal for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), it's safe to say that Rayudu's chances of making the cut for the Indian team are long gone. He last represented his country in June 2016 when a second-string Indian side toured Zimbabwe.

Apart from his failed international career, Rayudu is infamous for another thing - his temper. He has been involved in altercations with players on the field and also had a bitter fall-out with his coach Rajesh Yadav during his Ranji days for Hyderabad.

His bad temperament once again came to the limelight, this time, unfortunately, off the field. The Indian cricketer reportedly manhandled and slapped a senior citizen who is believed to have objected to his rash driving. The incident took place early on 31 August, the senior citizen was on his morning walk and Rayudu was on his way to the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium, located in Uppal, Hyderabad.

According to Mumbai Mirror, "Rayudu was driving his SUV rashly and was very close to the morning walkers near the stadium. When the senior citizen, who refused to talk to media, advised him to "Dhire Chalao" (drive slow), he got angry, applied brakes and started shouting at him.

There was an altercation. Many fellow walkers and onlookers came in support of the senior citizen but, Rayudu kept abusing him, got out of the car, held the senior citizen by collar and slapped him. Some youths intervened and pacified Ambati."

The report also suggests that B Vijay - one of the onlookers - captured the entire episode with his mobile camera. The victim, who is into fabrication business, was not aware who the guy manhandling him was. He also reportedly chose not to lodge any police complaint.

Ambati Rayudu is an arrogant asshole....he had picked up a fight with harbhajan while playing for MI, now acts as a street thug

B Vijay, who was upset over the 'uncivilised behaviour' of the famous cricketer, released the video to media. "It is unfair on part of a learned cricketer to stoop to the level of manhandling a senior citizen," he said narrating the episode to Mumbai Mirror.

Rayudu's latest antics attracted a lot of criticism on the social media, with many slamming the Mumbai Indians cricketer for his unruly behaviour.

@RayuduAmbati Why did you attack a senior citizen. Please be a responsible citizen @RayuduAmbati

@RayuduAmbati Β times change frequently, you just let your pride and *short* success ruin the person you are !

Arrogance of such people is what stops them from becoming greats. Sad that sports which is such a great leveller has some like this involved

If this is true, it is Deplorable .... Aggression is required on the field and not off the field.
