Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz SharifLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday congratulated Pakistan on winning the third T20 match and clinching Independence Cup against the World XI.
In his message of felicitation, the chief minister said that the team won the Independence Cup by playing a marvellous game and accorded the opportunity to the people to celebrate the return of high-profile cricket to the country.
He said that the victory in Independence Cup is the conquest of moderate and tolerant Pakistan and, irrespective of win or defeat, it is the peaceful Pakistan that won in the end.
It is the message to the enemies of peace that the nation will never allow their negative designs to succeed, Shehbaz said, adding that the tremendous interest of the people in the event was proof that Pakistanis are a peaceful nation.
He further said that the holding of event in a peaceful and congenial environment has paved the way for international cricket to return to Pakistan.
