Who does the ISIS hate most? The US? The Russians? Turns out this time it’s a 23-year-old Kurdish woman. The ISIS has offered a reward of $1 million for assassinating Joanna Palani, Kurdish woman who took up arms against the militant group in Syria and Iraq.

In a culture where women are sold as *** slaves and are not accorded even basic human rights, looks like Joanna’s bold move didn’t go down well with the extremists. Angered at a woman standing up to them, the group has offered the reward to anyone who will kill her.

Joanna’s family was granted asylum in Denmark when she was young, and she credited her ‘European values’ as inspiration behind her fight. She wrote on Facebook that she was inspired “to fight for women’s rights, for democracy - for the European values I learned as a Danish girl.” The girl left her graduation in politics midway to join the fight against ISIS.

Currently, she is on trial in Copenhagen for having left the country despite a 12-month travel ban implemented in June 2015, and if found guilty, she could face 2 years in prison. “How can I pose a threat to Denmark and other countries by being a soldier in an official army that Denmark trains and supports directly in the fight against [Isis]?” she posted on Facebook.
