Caitlan Coleman, the American woman who was rescued along with her family by Pakistani troops after five years in Taliban captivity, had to be rushed to hospital, her husband said.

Joshua Boyle, her Canadian husband, told the Associated Press in an email that his wife was admitted to hospital on Monday. His email did not specify why she was taken to the hospital.

?My wife has been through hell, and she has to be my first priority right now,? Boyle wrote.

He also said that he and his wife had decided to have children even in captivity because they always wanted to have a big family. ??Hey, let?s make the best of this and at least go home with a larger start on our dream family,? we decided.?

Boyle said their three children are now four, two and ?somewhere around six months?.

Boyle and his wife were kidnapped while backpacking in Afghanistan in 2012 by the Taliban. They were rescued by Pakistani troops in the northwest of the country, near the Afghan border, last week.

Upon their arrival in Canada, Boyle said one of his children had been murdered and his wife had been raped.
