Former United States President Barack Obama has been summoned for jury duty and he plans to appear, Chicago Tribune reported court officials as saying.
The chief judge of the Cook County Tim Evans said during a budget hearing that Obama will serve next month.
?He made it crystal-clear to me through his representative that he would carry out his public duty as a citizen and resident of this community,? Evans said.
The judge also said that they will make ?certain that he has all the accouterments that accompany a former president his safety?.
Other famous personalities who have appeared for jury duty include Oprah Winfrey, former US president George W Bush and John Kerry.
Taylor Swift was to also appear for the same last year; however, she was excused by a judge in a rape and kidnapping case.
