Life isn't always a cakewalk. And there's not even much you can do about it. Except that you know, no matter how difficult it gets, you'll have always have someone willing to listen. It's strange, almost unfathomable even, how the simplest of emotions reside the deepest in us. In a world that's constantly pulling us down, making us doubt our self worth at every step, it's our friends who help us stay afloat. Sometimes through assuring silences and sometimes by reminding us there's so much more to life than just 'goals'.

Companionship is the truest form of human emotion. You don't look for friends, they find you. Always, in strange ways, be it sharing your tiffin at school or helping you cheat in exams or bonding over the same music band. And before you know it, they become a part of your life. They don't push things around too much, they just find place in the little corners and make them their own.

But what's true friendship? Is it having a network of a thousand people on social media? Or is it that one social circle you love to grab a beer with every Saturday night? To put it simply, true friendships transcend moments. It's not about who you have a beer with or who you can tell all your secrets to. It's about who stays. It's about who understands you even in your silences. It's about who lets you be the crazy, mad ball of contradictions that you are with no judgements attached.

True friendship is the one that changes and evolves over time like every other relationship but refuses to fade. Because it goes beyond common interests and secrets. It's a connection. And that's what makes friendships so, so special in our lives. True friendship is that one bro who'd always be there for you no matter what. It's also that one friend who's never been your 'BFF' but has always been somewhere around, silently. The one who's somehow always been a constant in your life, even if you barely spoke every month. It's also that one friend who knows very little about your present life but knows you inside out better than most of your other friends you hangout with every weekend. It's also your own dog – the one who doesn't even speak the same tongue and yet knows exactly what cheers you up! A true friend is anyone you find comradeship in.

True friendship isn't about supporting the same football club or grabbing a beer every weekend, unlike pop culture may have you believe. It's about companionship and intangible presence. Oh, and tagging each other in memes every night. Don't forget that.
