KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi Wednesday announced quitting the party, as it announced to regroup with the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

The announcement came shortly after the MQM-P and PSP decided to regroup with "one name, one symbol and one manifesto", a year after the two political factions announced complete disassociation from their former leadership based in London.

Abidi also announced resigning from his membership of the National Assembly. He was elected as an MNA from NA-251, Karachi.

Meanwhile, MQM-P deputy convener Amir Khan while speaking to Geo News also expressed concern over the joining hands of the MQM-P and PSP.

Amir Khan, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Umrah, said, "This is not what we had decided. The situation is different from that now."

"I am concerned about the present situation," he shared, adding the mandate he had given to the party workers was different from this.

Khan also said that he will return to Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday) and then review the situation.
