KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan Deputy Convener Amir Khan expressed concern over the joining hands of MQM and Pakistan Sarzameen Party.

Speaking to Geo News, Amir Khan, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for Umrah, said ?this is not what we had decided. The situation is different from that now.?

?I am concerned about the present situation,? he shared, adding that the mandate he had submitted to the party workers was different from this.

Amir also said that he will return to Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday) and then review the situation.

Before the announcement that the parties will contest upcoming general elections under ?one name, one election symbol?, MQM-Pakistan leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan had shared that ?Amir Khan is onboard the present developments. We are in contact with him? while speaking to the media.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement ? Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) have decided to regroup with "one name, one symbol and one manifesto", a year after the two political factions announced complete disassociation from their former leadership based in London.

Announcing their decision at a joint press conference on Wednesday, MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar and PSP chairman Mustafa Kamal said they had decided to do away with their differences to ensure that the vote bank from Sindh and Karachi is not divided.

"We will contest the upcoming elections under one name and flag," Sattar announced while addressing a joint press conference with Kamal at the Karachi Press Club.

"We will later decide on the new name and electoral symbol." Sattar went ahead to say that the two parties have decided to address Karachi's issues.

"We have decided to form a political alliance for the betterment of all."

Following Sattar's press talk, Kamal endorsed Sattar's announcement to continue the now joint struggle under one name and symbol.

"We won't choose MQM as our new name because that name will always belong to the party's founder," the PSP Chairman said.
