KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced that it will stand with democracy. In a statement, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the party would not allow democracy to be derailed.

The announcement came in the backdrop of the Islamabad operation and protests erupting across the Pakistan.

A high-level meeting was chaired at the Bilawal House here on Sunday which was attended by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari, Khursheed Shah and Murad Ali Shah.

During the meeting, Bilawal emphasised that the PPP in troubled times would stand with democratic institutions in the country.

The PPP leadership called on the government to fulfil it's constitution requirements, adding that the government did not evaluate the situation in Islamabad correctly.

Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah also briefed the meeting, saying that the security situation in the province was under control.
