ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is united under the leadership of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday.

While speaking to media, Marriyum remarked that Nawaz didn?t take any exemption when he could have and has always appeared before the courts as pet the law and Constitution.

She also said that nation knows all those who are being a hurdle in the way of Constitutional bill. ?People won?t forgive if the elections don?t occur on time,? she said.

She also lashed out at political opponent Pakistan Peoples Party, remarking: ?PPP poses itself to be advocate of democracy.?

The state minister also refused to comment on the demonstration in Islamabad, which was staged by a religious party. She said that it?s about time to move on from the last few days, in which protests were staged all across the country.

Have a lot to say: Nawaz Sharif

Earlier in the day, the accountability court hearing corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family did not conduct any proceedings on Tuesday due to the absence of the defence counsel.

Nawaz, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar arrived at the court for the corruption hearing.

Nawaz and his family are facing three corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court's July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.

Nawaz and his two sons, Hussain and Hasan, are nominated in all three references ? Al Azizia, Avenfield and Flagship ? whereas Maryam and Safdar are only accused in one: Avenfield.

As the hearing began, Judge Mohammad Bashir was informed that Nawaz's counsel, Khawaja Harris, cannot make it to court as he is busy in the Supreme Court.

The defence then requested the court to adjourn the hearing on grounds that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) is expected to rule this week on Nawaz's request to club the three references against him into one.
