KARACHI: Former president and leader of Pakistan Peoples' Party Asif Ali Zardari marked the party's foundation day on Thursday by hoisting its flag at Bilawal House.

Speaking on the occasion, Zardari said that the relation of Pakistan and PPP will continue for centuries.

He added that Bhuttoism is a guarantor of Pakistan's safe future, referring to former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the party's founder.

PPP leaders Faryal Talpur, Aftab Shaiban Meerani, former Sindh cheif minister Qaim Ali Shah, PPP MPA Saeed Ghani, Javed Nagori, Waqar Mehdi and provincial minister Mukesh Chawla, among others, were present in the ceremony.

Earlier, Zardari congratulated workers in and outside the country on the occasion of the party?s 50th foundation day.

In a message on the occasion, Zardari said PPP has made massive sacrifices for the sake of ideology and there was no match for the efforts the party has made for democracy.

Moreover, the party co-chairperson said they were proud of PPP?s record of public service.

Zardari said PPP has always believed in the peaceful settlement of matters.

He added that back in the 1970s it was the party?s founder, Bhutto, who signed an agreement with Indian leader Indira Gandhi to reverse the consequences of the 1971 war and to settle differences between India and Pakistan through bilateral negotiations.

About bringing change in the country, Zardari said it could be possible through free and fair elections.

The PPP will hold a rally at Parade Ground, Islamabad on December 5 to mark the party's foundation day.
