LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will have no objections if it has to ally with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for national betterment, said PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf on Saturday.

The former premier made the comments after appearing before an accountability court hearing a graft case against him.

Ashraf said accusing state institutions is akin to weakening the state, adding that the PPP, under any circumstances, did not attack the Supreme Court.

"Our wish is to see that the next general elections are held on time," said the PPP leader.

He claimed that the PPP will not be affected by anyone's "in or out". He was likely referring to Friday's disqualification of PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen.

The former prime minister also criticised the ruling party, saying that he cannot even see the government let alone see the functioning of the government.

Earlier, the PTI chairman had said he would never side with the "corrupt" PPP chief Asif Ali Zardari.
