With Four Doubles In Four Series Virat Kohli Establishes Himself As The Maharaja Of The Subcontinent

Virat Kohli is redefining modern cricket and how. After an incredulous 2016, Kohli began with a bang scoring the first double century of 2017 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. Doing so, he also became the first batsman ever to score four double centuries in four successive series. Earlier, Dravid and Bradman held the record for three double tons in three successive series.

Since taking on the captainship from MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli has completely transformed his test career with amazing knocks. As a captain of team India, this is what his figures read:Β

115,141,147,46,14,103,3,78,10,18,21,1,29,22,16,44,88,200,44,3,4,9,18,9,45,211,17,40,49*
167,81,62,6*,235,15,204

Kohli is currently second to Steve Smith in the test rankings and that is bound to change once Australia begins its tour of India starting 23rd February.Β

This innings against Bangladesh also made him the highest run scorer for India in tests in a single season as he overtook the earlier record of Virender Sehwag. As against Sehwag’s 1105 runs, Kohli has scored 1168 till now with four more test matches to go against Australia.

Kohli is now easily the best batsman in sub-continental conditions and with the Australian series yet to commence, we can expect a lot of fireworks from him for the next two months.
