The beard has successfully made a comeback. It, in fact, has made a comeback so strong that it has become tough spotting a 20-something dude who is not sporting one, accompanied by the equally popular 'faded' haircut. What about its cousin, the moustache, though? Yes, yes, a moustache is a given in most cases when you are sporting a beard, but what about its own identity? One that does not require the beard's presence to be validated and appreciated? After ruling over the 70's, 80's and even 90's (partially) on its own, the reign of the solo moustache sadly came to an end. Which is why, when a rare brave soul (like TV actor Amit Gaur, in this case) takes a dig at resurrecting it, we take notice.

Amit is sporting what the world gleefully likes to call a pornstar moustache or a pornstache. We wondered about the etymology, hoping to find something that probably warrants a layered element of mystique. We reluctantly had to make peace with the fact that it's simply called that because this style of moustache was most commonly spotted among yesteryears' male pornstars. They used to be very popular amongst the policemen of the 70's as well but why on earth would anyone call them a 'Policemen moustache' when 'Pornstar moustache' was the other legit option?

Even though the world has turned upside down and nothing from the past remains as it once was, there remains among women an essentially latent, almost forgotten, often overlooked fascination with the pornstache. The reason? The same, really, as they were decades ago. The moustache embodies the masculine sexual energy in a such a strong, unabashedly raw manner that even admitting to having a fixation with it might be considered immodest to the fairer ***. That makes it even more irresistible, doesn't it?

If you go back and take a look at the moustache in the past, you will be surprised at the importance it used to command in the society. The moustache used to be flagbearer of virility and masculinity, for reasons that are still not clear to us. Twisting one's handlebar moustache and maintaining it by using grooming products such as oil used to be the equivalent of a mating call. The more prominent the moustache, the more legendary the individual, with the innate prowess of making women swoon on sight, and tremble at the thought of being caressed and nuzzled by that revered patch of facial hair.

There was a reason Tom Selleck was the *** symbol he was, and all our Bollywood heroes - right from Jackie Shroff to Anil Kapoor - preferred keeping a moustache. Hell, even Mario had one! Kudos for trying to bring it back, Amit. May the 'stache be with you.
