The Kansas shooting disaster which ended up taking the life of an Indian engineer will go down in history as a sad day. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, the Indian engineer who lost his life was just 32 years old. However, Ian Grillot, a local Kansas resident intervened the shooting that night and ensured that no more lives were taken. Sadly, in the process, he even took two bullets and injured himself.

In another happy space, Ian is now recovering and is out of danger. His heroic act might be a humanitarian act on his end, but it ended up with him becoming a hero in the eyes of everyone.
India salutes the heroism of Ian Grillot ! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
— Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) February 27, 2017The Indian consul general in Houston, Anupam Ray not only extended his gratitude on behalf of Indians, but as a token of thanks, invited Ian and his family to India.
Ian is a US Navy veteran and he happily accepted the warmth and the invite. Since he was discharged last week, he is already in the process of visiting our country.
Such heroic acts prove that humanity binds the world and while there are people who divide us on cultural and racial lines, there are others who bind us with humanity.
