The statement was made during a meeting of the premier with Afghan Ambassador Omer Zakhilwal in the federal capital earlier today.
"We want to strengthen ties with Afghanistan in areas of mutual interest," said PM Abbasi during his meeting with the visiting Afghan official.
Abbasi also condemned an attack in Kabul that killed at least 26 people and wounded 18 others in the meeting.
A suicide bomber blew himself up near the Kart-e Sakhi shrine in Kabul earlier today as the Afghan capital celebrated the Nawruz holiday marking the start of the Persian new year.
The latest explosion to hit Kabul underlined the threat to the city from militant attacks despite government promises to tighten security in the wake of an attack in January that killed around 100 people.
