After a successful outing in their gruelling tour of South Africa, the Indian cricket team had the luxury of resting some prominent players to pave way for budding stars to prove their mettle against the likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the recently-concluded Nidahas Trophy.
The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah amongst others were rested for the low-key tournament. Thanks to Dinesh Karthik, India didn't really miss either of their star players in their triumphant campaign. But, while everyone seems to be happy, Pandya appears to have found himself in trouble.

A special SC/ST court has directed the Jodhpur police to register an FIR against the Indian cricketer for his alleged comment on Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. According to reports, DR Meghwal filed a petition against Pandya claiming that his remarks insulted Dr Ambedkar and hurt the sentiments of the people of his community.
"Which Ambedkar??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country," Pandya purportedly shared on his Twitter timeline.
Meghwal, who claims to be a member of Rashtriya Bhim Sena in Rajasthan's Jalore district, stated in his complaint that by making this comment, a popular cricketer like Pandya has not only attempted to insult and disregard the architect of the constitution deliberately, but has also hurt the sentiments of the community he belongs to.

βI learnt about Pandya's comment through social media in January. It appeared quite derogatory for a figure like Ambedkar and was an attempt to spread hatred and create division in the society,β Meghwal, an advocate by profession, told TOI.
βBy doing so, he has committed a serious crime and hurt the sentiments of my entire community,β he said, adding that Pandya should be given adequate and suitable punishment for his βcrass actβ.
On the other hand, a report from NDTV claims that a copy of the complaint shows that the comment was never posted from Pandya's verified Twitter handle. While Hardik Pandya's Twitter handle is @hardikpandya7, the court order is based on a complaint that refers to the handle @sirhardik3777.

"We are yet to receive the orders of the court and once we get it, I will be in a position to comment," Rajesh Yadav, a police officer in Jaipur, told NDTV. "Further action will be taken according to law," he added.
Amidst all the chaos and confusion, let's hope that the matter is resolved before Pandya joins Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, slated to begin from 7 April.
