A Startup Has Created A Tie Using Manmade Spiderwebs andamp Is Worth More Than Rs. 20000

If the world wasn’t full of wonderful experiences, the amalgamation of technology and nature is what makes us feel proud to be born in a time where we get to witness it closely. The reason why we are saying this is because for the first time the fashion industry is taking the world by storm with a very unusual yet highly creative concept – a finely woven tie which is made of manmade spider webs. In other words, some creative genius people have made a tie which is spun from the same material that spiders spin out, the only difference is that this thread was prepared by humans using ‘fermented microbial poop’.

This tie is a creation of Bolt Threads, a startup that aims to revolutionize your wardrobe with incredible products. Spider silk is said to be one of the toughest yet softest materials in the world, so wearing something made of that material would really feel out of this world. What’s surprising is that it took them nearly seven years to produce the first tie, the team was able to spin the next one in 60 days, as told to Tech Crunch by Dan Widmaier, company’s founder. However, Bolt Threads is not the only company that mass produces silk. There’s a company called Spiber in Japan that also uses special yeast to make spider silk and is slated to introduce a “Moon Parka” jacket this year. Check out this video where process of this amazing creation has been explained.

Now, let’s jump to the main question, how much money does one need to shell out to own this one of its kind tie? Well, it is expected to be priced at $314 (over Rs. 20,000 approx). What’s more, it seems that you will have to wait for some time since they have created only 50 pieces as “limited edition” and people who wish to buy it will have to sign up from via lottery on their official website.
