Sridevi Wins Her First National Award Posthumously For Her Last Movie 'Mom'


Recognizing and appreciating some of the brilliant performances and movies this year, the jury of the 65th National Film Awards announced the list of winners today. In a moving gesture and remembering the great actress she was, Sridevi was posthumously named the best actress for her last movie 'Mom'. This is Sridevi's first national award.

Sridevi made her Bollywood comeback with Gauri Shinde's 'English Vinglish', and floored us all with her strong independent housewife avatar, who learns English language to prove to the world that she is not less than anyone and that she deserves respect from everyone including her family.

After 'English Vinglish', Sridevi starred in Ravi Udyawar's crime thriller 'Mom'; where she sets out to avenge her step-daughter. Although, the movie wasn't a commercial success, 'Mom' received appreciation from critics. Now, the jury honoured her with a much-deserved national award for her performance.

Apart from Sri Devi, late actor Vinod Khanna too was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award, which is said to be the highest film honour in India.  

In the wee hours of February 24, the whole world went into a major shock after people came to know about Bollywood's 'Chandni', Sridevi's demise in Dubai. The demise of this brilliant and versatile actress has left a deep void in Bollywood, which can't be filled anytime soon.
