Mary Kom & Gaurav Solanki Punch Their Way To The Top With A Gold For India At The CWG 2018


India's spell of striking gold at the Commonweath Games 2018 is getting stronger as the days progress! Boxing champions Mary Kom and Gaurav Solanki made every Indian beam with pride as they punched their way to the top with a gold medal in their respective categories.

Punching Gold!

Gaurav Solanki outshines Brendan Irvine in a spectacular exchange of punches to win India's 2nd ð¥in boxing.

He's the 2nd Indian to achieve this feat in the flyweight category (52kg) after Suranjoy Singh in 2010.

Mary Kom, a five time World Champion and an Olympic bronze medallist  became the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal at the CWG. She won in the 48 kg category after defeating Northern Ireland's Kristina O'Harra.

Gaurav Solanki won in the 52 kg category and had a special message post the win. “Today I'm dedicating my medal to my mum, but I want to represent India at the (Tokyo) 2020 Olympics and to be there when they raise the Indian flag”.
