Virat Kohli Showers Praise On Trent Boult For His Stunning 'Catch Of The Century'

In what was touted to be a dog fight amongst the last two teams in the points table, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to clinch their second win this season after beating Delhi Daredevils (DD) by six wickets at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Having lost three games, RCB needed its players to step up and to the occasion was none other 'Mr. 360' AB de Villiers.

With wide array of strokes, the explosive batsman powered his way to an unbeaten 90 off just 39 deliveries including ten fours and five sixes. His stay at the crease ensured RCB chased down the competitive total of 174 runs with two overs to spare. But, while RCB were lifted by De Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal (2-22), Delhi, too, witnessed the moments of brilliance through its players.

Shreyas Iyer's knock of a 31-ball 52 was pivotal in stabilising Delhi's innings after early struggles, while Rishabh Pant's 85-run innings ensured the visitors had a respectable total on board. In the RCB's run-chase, another exemplary display came through Trent Boult whose brilliance in the field sent Virat Kohli back into the hut.

MUST WATCH: Boult from the Blue – @trent_boult's one-handed screamer stuns Virat

Is this the greatest catch of the #VIVOIPL? We have seen him take amazing catches, but he has outdone himself with this sensational catch of #RCB's captain Virat Kohli.

With both Kohli and De Villiers beginning to threaten Delhi's chances with their brewing partnership, Boult pulled off a stunner to bring his side back into the contest. Harshal Patel's full-toss straying on the leg side was heading over the ropes when Boult timed his jump to perfection, raising his right-hand to catch the ball and then carefully landing on his stomach just inches away from the boundary.

It was one of those rare moments that you had to see to believe it. The catch left the home crowd open mouthed with Kohli himself appearing shell-shocked and the ball-boy near Boult couldn't hold himself back from expressing his wonder at the brilliance in the field from the Delhi star.

So much so that the RCB skipper himself couldn't help by shower praise on Boult's magnificent effort. "[The catch} I was stunned when he took it, that's a brilliant catch, it happens in the IPL specially. Good to see. That's a catch when you look back, you don't feel bad about getting out," Kohli said after the match.

On the other hand, Boult's catch also became the topic of discussion on the social media with cricket bigwigs labelling it as the greatest ever catch in history of the game.

I think we could quite easily have just seen the Greatest EVER catch .... #TrentBoult #IPL #Virat

Saturday was the day of batsmen. Some sensational hitting. Lynn, Gayle, Rahul, Pant, AB. But I'll remember this day for that Trent Boult one-handed magic. Might not see a better catch in the entire IPL. #respect #RCBvDD

Stop what you're doing and go look at the catch Trent Boult just took. That is one of the best catches that the game of Cricket has ever seen without any doubt. Just breathing distance and he took it with ease. #RCBvDD
