With the parking alleys turning into stadiums and concrete land representing the 22-yard strip, almost every street in our cricket-crazy nation boasts of its own Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Given the limited space on offering as the so-called playing field, the rules of the game are also altered to suit the conditions. While The concept of 'one-tip one-hand' catch helps the fielding unit in expediting their turn to bat, 'bhatta bowling' - pie-chucking in Kevin Pietersen's language - saves the batsmen the trouble of handling extra pace.

Though the childish 'bhatta bowling' is generally restricted to gully cricket, the notion seems to have gripped the star-studded Indian Premier League (IPL). Thanks to Manoj Tiwary's bizarre bowling action, majority of the Indian cricket fans were taken back to their gully cricket days.

During Sunrisers Hyderabad's thrilling 13-run win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium, Tiwary - who used to be an effective leg-spinner earlier in his career - was seen bowling off-breaks with a unique action for the visitors. In what seemed to be an exaggerated version of Kedar Jadhav, the part-time spinner was seen flexing his elbow right till the edge of ICC's 15-degree rule for a legal delivery.

At the time of releasing the ball, the 32-year-old crouched as much as he could while bowling a round-arm delivery whose release point was almost below stump height and lower than that of Lasith Malinga. Despite the weird slingy action, Tiwary was bowling legal deliveries in adherence to the laws of the game, but the Indian cricket fans just couldn't help themselves in poking fun at the Punjab cricketer.
