Hypebeast Anand Ahuja's 'Mehendi' Outfit Is As Dope As His Collection Of Rare Sneakers In Life
Indian nuptials, as a pre-requisite, call for head-turning, slightly groundbreaking outfits. That's the rule of Indian festivities and since your wedding is of course the ultimate one, you're bound to turn to — if we may — historic menswear wins. But again, that's what the textbook says. When it comes to men like Anand Ahuja, who in no time, would be married to Bollywood A-lister Sonam Kapoor, a lot of theories hold invalid.
For his Mehendi ceremony at the Kapoor residence last night, the NY-based sneaker-head/indie dude/cool lad, Anand Ahuja chose a rather hush-hush ensemble. But while that's factual knowledge, what's to notice is the subtle, muted vibe of the outfit, that's far away from anything we had expected:

By the looks of it, first off, the Mehendi ceremony was clearly a very intimate affair. Going by our research over the Internet and social media, there were only a handful of images that came to our notice. The groom-to-be in particular, was only seen in three instances: in a video of his friends (while he was getting ready), in a jiggy along with Sonam Kapoor and in two images, that clearly put his outfit on display.

To break it down: Anand topped a pale grey kurta (in a textured weave) with a pink bandhgala, and finished the outfit off with white tailored trousers and open smooth leather sandals. The bandhgala featured a buttoning system that was as classic as classic gets. But since the man's a hypebeast before anything, it has clearly rubbed off on Sonam Kapoor. As seen below, the bride-to-be is seen wearing a pair of Nike sliders, while Ahuja is yet, in the glory of his modern-Indian footwear.

Coming back to the outfit, in the right spirit, Ahuja also wore a brown-strapped analog on his wrist and well-folded (and placed) pocket square. And though, he chose to keep his Bandhgala buttoned for most of the time. But he did unbutton it later, when things were getting into the groove and it was time to bring the house down.

Hearty congratulations to the couple! And if sources are any indication, Anand would soon be seen in a Raghavendra Rathore ensemble for his pheras.
