Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Pataakha' Trailer Is A Relatable Tale Of 2 Siblings Out For Each Other's Blood

Vishal Bhardwaj's movies never leave us disappointed, as there is something about him that gives his movies a unique blend that most makers can't seem to conjure.

Following the same pattern is his new film 'Pataakha' starring Sanya Malhotra from 'Dangal' and Radhika Madan. The trailer of the movie is out and it is gritty, complex and hilarious.

Vishal introduces two sisters Genda Kumari or 'Chhutki' (Sanya) and Champa Kumari or 'Badki' (Radhika) who, like most siblings, are out for each other's blood and are constantly at each other's throats.

The narrator in the trailer compares their violent and turbulent relationship to that of India and Pakistan, and honestly, he's not exaggerating!

Living in a village in Rajasthan with their father aka Bapu (Vijay Raaz), the film very impressively establishes the rivalry between the two sisters, that has existed right from their childhood.

From massive brawls, which are often public, to being beedi-addicts to flirting with boys just for fun, the two are always indulging in some mischief which has their poor father at his wit's end.

We soon see Bapu in dire need of money, who then fixes the marriage of his daughter with a rich man (Saanand Verma). But the twist comes when both the sisters run away and end up marrying men, who turn out to be brothers.

You can imagine their horror, as the sisters realise, that they'll have to end up living together, again!

We also see Sunil Grover featuring as Dipper Naradmuni who is amazing as always.

Clearly, this is yet another piece of fine work by Bhardwaj about an epic sibling rivalry, which I'm sure most of us can relate to.

'Pataakha' is based on acclaimed writer Charan Singh Pathik's short story 'Do Behenein' and looks very promising indeed.

Check out the trailer now:

The movie is all set to hit the big screen on September 28.
