Every kid wants to live up to the expectations of their parents, fulfil their dreams and make them proud. Similarly, all parents want to see their children excel and reach greater heights in life. And when the kids outshine their parents, their happiness and joy is unparalleled. 

No one can understand this emotion better than AR Umamaheswara Sarma, a father whose pride knows no bounds, ever since he greeted his daughter with a salute. 

Umamaheswara has been serving in the police for over three decades now and is currently working as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Malkajgiri area in Telangana.

Yesterday, during the public meeting of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at Kongara Kalan, he met his daughter Sindhu Sarma for the first time as a cop while on duty. Sindhu is the Superintendent of Police in Telangana and is Umamaheswara's senior officer.

"This is the first time we have come together while doing our duties. I am fortunate to work with her," said the proud father. He further added, "She is my senior officer. When I see her, I salute her. We do our respective duties and don't discuss this, but at home, we are just like any father and daughter."

Sarma, who is retiring next year, started his career as a sub-inspector, while his daughter Sindhu is an IPS officer from the 2014 batch.
