It happens quite often that a good series keep us hooked for a couple of seasons and then, its quality start degrading. But we still watch it as loyal viewers as we want to see how it ends.
Here are 5 such series which got us gripped in the beginning but ended on a sour note:1. Lost
No series could develop the suspense like this one did. And no series could screw up the suspense like this one did either.
Perhaps it was the fault of the network. They didn't want this money-making machine to stop, which apparently spoiled the storyline and suspense towards the last couple of seasons.
The beginning was amazingly good. A bunch of strangers got stuck on an island which isn't visible to the outside world. It had a story, it had good characters and it had suspense. But they couldn't keep up towards the end and ended the series on a below-par note with a shitty finale.2. How I Met Your Mother
When the series premiered, it was funny! There was character depth, the jokes were good, and Robin was beautifully feisty. And then, they dragged the characters and the story till they just fell flat. I don't know what happened, but Robin wasn't...Robin after the first few seasons.
They also managed to turn Barney Stinson from a playboy to a man desperate to sleep with women. The Marshall-Lilly couple became rather annoying and good old Ted became a poor soul.
Well, he always was a poor soul actually but the writers made him even sadder. In short, the series lost its charm after the 5th season, to say the least.3. Heroes
A bunch of never-seen-before superheroes and supervillains fighting against each other is a great TV series concept. 'Heroes' was based on the same and had a great first two seasons. The makers should have ended it on a good note but they decided to drag the series further.
It somehow seemed that the storyline was going in a loop, if not reverse. It seemed like the same stuff was happening in every episode and nothing was actually getting solved. They just couldn't wrap up the series on a high note.4. Prison Break
As much as I hate to admit it, but the show wasn't the same after the first two seasons. It was clearly seen that they're dragging the show just because the viewers wanted to, despite the bad storyline in the last seasons. They should have stuck to the name and should have shown a prison break instead of whatever the hell they did.
A man goes in jail with a cool tattoo of blueprints, finds a way to escape, makes a pretty prison doctor fall in love with him, breaks his wrongly accused brother out, clears his name, the end. Would have been perfect!5. The Vampire Diaries
For the first few seasons, every episode of the series ended like a finale. It was one of the best thrillers I had ever watched. And then, they went overboard with it and started screwing up roughly after the fifth season. Anything and everything was happening in the show after the fifth season.
People dying, people coming back, people half dead, half back, and what not! The ending of the show was also not that great. The only thing that made the show entertaining was Damon's recklessness. Yet, most of us stuck to it and watched till it got over for good.
Were you as disappointed as I was?
