Akshay Kumar Gives Rs 5 Lakh To Acid Attack Survivor, Says Awards & Medals Don't Pay The Bills

On days when Akshay Kumar is not busy smashing box office records with his exceptional movies, the actor is busy doing his bit for the welfare of the society and people.

Recently, Akshay came to the rescue of acid attack survivor and activist Laxmi Agarwal, who has been struggling financially for a year now. After learning that Laxmi is facing a difficulty in making ends meet, Akshay transferred Rs. 5 lakh into her account so that she can find a job with dignity.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, he said, "My contribution is a very small gesture. I am embarrassed to even mention it. The idea is that Laxmi should be able to search for a job with dignity, without having to worry about paying house rent or stressing about not being able to provide a nutritious meal to her baby."

He further added, "I wish people realise that when a person is in need of livelihood, medals, awards and certificates don't pay the bills. It's important to support through practical means." We wish more people can think like Akshay."

According to the report in HT, Laxmi said that despite receiving numerous awards, walking the ramp and giving motivational talks, she did not have any money to even meet her basic needs. Laxmi was unemployed for a year, but after people got to know about her story, she has been flooded with job offers and financial aid too is pouring in from everywhere.

Akshay Kumar is one of those few actors who actually takes action, instead of just posting about it on social media. Last year, Akshay helped raise Rs. 6.5 crores at the event for the families of the martyred soldiers. He also came up with the initiative called 'Bharat Ke Veer' along with the Home Ministry.

Be it creating awareness about social issues through his movies or standing with the families of jawans, Akshay Kumar has never hesitated in helping people and probably that's the reason why people love him so much.
