For a team that is currently ranked No. 1 in Tests and No. 2 in both ODIs and T20Is, the Indian cricket team is quite understandably the favourites to win the upcoming ICC World Cup scheduled to be held in England and Wales from 30th May in 2019. And, if that's not enough, the presence of Virat Kohli (No. 1 in both Tests and ODIs), Jasprit Bumrah (No. 1 in ODIs) and KL Rahul (No. 3 in T20Is) in their squad further bolsters their tag as favourites.
The Indian side, currently enjoying a brilliant run in international cricket, is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to put their best foot forward in the coveted World Cup. We've already seen the Indian team management and selectors trying different combinations in both their batting and bowling line-ups to find the best-suited players across different roles in the side. And, the cricketers, too, are making sure they're well prepared for the contest that awaits in England and Wales.

Thus, there was no surprise to see the Indian cricketers tabling a few requests ahead of the marquee event. Team India skipper Kohli laid out three key requests during the review meeting with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) in Hyderabad where the likes of Ajinkya Rahane (India's vice-captain in Tests), Rohit Sharma (India's vice-captain in ODIs), head coach Ravi Shastri and chief selector MSK Prasad all in attendance.
According to media reports, Kohli & co have requested for bananas, a reserved train coach and their wives and girlfriends (WAGs) for company during their time in England and Wales. “Apparently, the England cricket board failed to serve the Indian team with the fruit of their choice during the tour. But the CoA was amused by the request and said that the players should have told the team manager to buy bananas on the BCCI's expenses,” Indian Express quoted unnamed sources as saying.
The Indian skipper, on behalf of his team, also expressed his desire to travel by train - instead of a team bus - in England during the entire duration of the 2019 World Cup. “The CoA was initially not willing to agree because it was worried about security. But it was informed by Kohli that the England team travelled by train… The team wants a coach to be blocked and booked. The CoA was worried about travelling Indian fans mobbing the train. Eventually, the committee agreed under the condition that the CoA or BCCI won't be held responsible if anything untoward happens,” the report quoted the source as saying.

Last, but not the least, the CoA also paid heed to the cricketers' demand for allowing their respective WAGs to accompany them during their time in England and Wales. The Indian WAGs will get a reserved bus for travel during the 2019 World Cup. “There have been instances in past where a few players have driven with their wives separately. The board wants to stop that practice as it affects team bonding. It was felt that some players might view this as a distraction during tours. They (CoA) want to make sure that everyone is onboard before they give the green light,” the source added.
While the CoA was seen playing ball with the Indian cricketers on their key requests, the Indian fans couldn't stop themselves from expressing their own opinions on the matter.
