Rashid Khan Makes MS Dhoni Proud By Smashing The 'Helicopter Shot' Six In MSL

Arguably one of the most popular and iconic cricketers in the country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will probably go down in history as one of the greatest contributors to Indian cricket.

If his blistering middle-order batting aided his team in pressure situations, Dhoni's commendable leadership allowed the Indian team to scale new heights in international cricket. And then, there is his unbelievable wicket-keeping skills.

His ability to influence a match in different ways is what eventually allowed him to become the pride of the nation. His unorthodox style has struck a chord with cricket fans across the globe.

While he has already retired from the longest format and his fans have been surely missing him during India's ongoing tour of Australia, cricket enthusiasts got a glimpse of MSD at the Mzansi Super League (MSL) - thanks to Rashid Khan.

While Dhoni himself wasn't playing in the South African T20 league, the Afghanistan cricketer reminded everyone of the former Indian captain by successfully emulating his signature 'Helicopter Shot' during the clash between Durban Heat and Tshwane Spartans.

Chasing a competitive total of 188 runs, the Durban franchise suffered early setbacks but Albie Morkel's breathtaking innings kept them in the hunt. With 50 runs required off 23 deliveries, Rashid came out to bat after the dismissal of Keshav Maharaj on the first delivery of the 17th over.

With his side desperately in need of some boundaries, the Afghan cricketer got into the act right on the very first delivery he faced. The 20-year-old smacked Lutho Sipamla for a towering six over the deep-midwicket by successfully pulling off Dhoni's 'Helicopter Shot'.

Though Rashid couldn't do much later as he was eventually dismissed on the third delivery he faced, the Afghan spinner surely made Dhoni and his fans proud by unleashing the 'Helicopter Shot'. Despite Rashid's dismissal, Morkel's sensational 28-ball 57 secured a thrilling two-wicket win for Durban.
