The trailer of 'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' just dropped and so did our jaws, when we saw Kangana Ranaut take centrestage as the fierce warrior queen, Rani Lakshmibai. 

Just like Rani Lakshmibai single-handedly ruled and and fought against the British East India Company to protect Jhansi, Kangana is here to reclaim her throne as the ultimate Queen of Bollywood.

The trailer begins with the royal family of Jhansi fearing that the East India Company will overtake Jhansi if they don't get an heir soon. Then comes a young woman Manikarnika aka Manu who fiercely shoots an arrow and kills a tiger. How the young Manu turns into a warrior queen of Jhansi who catapults the Swaraj movement in India, weaves the rest of the plot.

Even before its release, the movie has stirred major controversy for the tiff between Kangana Ranaut and the former director. In fact, when the teaser dropped, Twitter unleashed its own meme war that crossed all the boundaries of savagery. But, the trailer and Kangana's powerful performance is proof that this movie has the power to rule at the box office. 

The movie also stars Jishu Sengupta as the king and Lakshmibai's husband, Danny Denzongpa as Ghulam Ghaus Khan and Ankita Lokhande as Manu's trusted lieutenant Jhalkari Bai. Directed by Kangana Ranaut and Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, the film will hit the screens on January 25, 2019.
