Remember when you waited for your favourite show to come on TV back in the 90s? The one with five sisters—one of whom was a tomboy, the other was self-obsessed and yet another was a nerd? 

I’m talking about one of the most popular cult Hindi TV shows of the 90s—'Hum Paanch'.

And we couldn’t be more excited. It’s like having some of our favourite childhood memories revived. And we all know how great that could feel like. Want to know why? 

Because our childhood was equal parts bright, colourful and free. No ownership, no responsibility; just do your homework and you get to watch 'Hum Paanch'. That’s why it’s such a fond part of the childhood memories. 

And that’s also why we’re this excited about having our favourite 90s TV show back. 

Balaji Telefilms

Unlike the first, time, the queen of Indian television, Ekta Kapoor isn’t the one behind the comeback. You heard that right. Balaji Telefilms will not be the production house that will be breathing life back into 'Hum Paanch'. Instead, this time it’s the producers behind Indian shows, like ‘Maharakshak Devi’ and ‘Dance India Dance’. 

Of course, there is also going to be a change of the star cast. Which also means we don’t really know how much of the old charm will be retained. However, sources from the production house state that the the intrinsic elements will be true to the older version, while the format will be given a modern spin.
