KOHAT: Four policemen, including a station house officer (SHO), were killed in an attack on a police van here late Saturday, officials said.

According to police, SHO Lachi police station, Khanullah, had led a police team to Kamal Khel area for the arrest of wanted suspects. The police team, comprising four mobiles, was returning whey they came under attack by terrorists in Mohsin Khel area.

As a consequence, SHO Lachi Khanullah, Additional SHO Tahir Mahmood, Constable Abid and Tanvir Ali were killed on the spot.

The police team retaliated, but the terrorists, taking advantage of the dark, fled from the scene.

Reinforcements were called in and the areas has been cordoned off.

A search operation is underway for the perpetrators of the attack.
